Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

So I was talking about the spinoffs with some coworkers.

I personally think Rogue One should be good.

I think Han Solo is gonna suck

Boba Fett who knows.

I think Rogue One could be good. Downside we know that they get the plans. Upside still have plenty of a chance to tell a great story.

I think Rouge One is the perfect movie to start off with the side movies as you can have the face of star wars in it with Darth Vader. With James Earl Jones coming back to voice him it's no surprise why they picked that one. I do think Han Solo is the most iffy of the side movies because he is so iconic with Harrison Ford playing him. But Lawrence Kasdan is helping write it so hopefully it doesn't suck. I think a Bobba Fett movie showing what all he did between 3 and leading up to 5 would be good with possibly the end of the movie showing him getting out of the sarlac pit if they decide to keep him alive.

There was a picture of a Finn toy that had it labeled as Finn Calrissian. Lando is supposed to be in the next movie and Rogue One

I'm not sure of Lando being in Rouge One. But I have no doubts they will show him in the Han Solo movie where Han wins the Falcon from him.

The movies are ok - saw the new one this morning and it wasn't that impressive, way too similar to A New Hope (another giant Death Star like ship, c'mon) - I don't understand all the hype around the series, but it's probably just my age/era. Much more intrigued by the Marvel movies.

Should be much longer.

Interesting idea I saw was Snoke being an Inquisitor. Specifically the Grand Inquisitor.

Really makes a lot of sense. I don't think the sith are back. And I think it will screw with some.

And to clarify why Han Solo will suck. We saw Han Solo at a relatively young age. Early 30s would be the guess. You're gonna basically have to massively change him to make it moderately acceptable. I don't buy it though. I really just don't get it. IMO if they were gonna do a Spinoff it should have been telling the time gap between Han leaving the Resistance and finding Rey. That's the time to do it. Not make a swashbuckling movie about (presumably) Han, Chewie and Lando becoming friends.

But to do that, they would need Harrison Ford, and he's hung up the leather jacket for good. With the origin story, they have a fighting chance of finding someone to pull off the younger version. I nominate Henry Cavill, just so he can say he played Han Solo and Napoleon Solo.

Han IIRC is already on the docket for episode 8. Ford would have done it with enough money. In the end they had an idea and I don't think it's terrible idea in a reality, but it's basically impossible to pull off.

I'm still holding out hopes they bring Ford back for some flashbacks. I mean don't really find it hard for them to show Han dropping Ben off to work with Luke as a flashback in 8 or 9.

Well this sucks.

Star wars 8 bumped to December 15th of 2017 instead of May 25th 2017.

Another half year to wait! Hopefully this doesn't mean ep 9 gets pushed back as well.

I was thinking all the last two would be pushed back. Let's Disney take advantage of a long holiday for ticket sales.

I can't wait that long.

Who knows if any of us will be alive by then! Disney should have shot them back to back like Peter Jackson did Lord of the Rings just to be safe!

So I think Luke didn't leave the way Han said. Han looked away when describing it, and to me that's telling me Han's reason for running and hiding.

He looked away because he was ashamed as a father to be describing his son mass murdering good guys.

That would explain what happened though. Han is the only one who says why Luke leaves in the film. I think the second statement was true that he went to go find the first Jedi temple. And I think it was because he was heartbroken and meditated/prayed.
