381 Old Colony Avenue on Monday in Boston, MA. (Matt Stone/Boston Herald) June 19, 2023
A member of the Boston City Council wants the Housing Authority to explain exactly what happened at the Mary Ellen McCormack Housing complex, where four children were allegedly found hidden in the back room of an apartment filled with “alcohol, drugs, sex toys” and a dead person.

Kids, ‘drugs, sex toys,’ dead man in South Boston apartment: ‘Sickening’
On Saturday, Boston Police and Fire crews responded to 381 Old Colony Avenue to a report of a person in cardiac arrest who required medical assistance. First responders, according to an incident report obtained by the Herald, found a filthy apartment occupied by uncooperative adults — reportedly dressed in drag — who apparently were hiding the presence of children from them.

si

more importantly doctors and psychologists who work in the field support it after a period of careful evaluation

no one gets approved for such treatment on a whim...it is provided for patients who over a period of years (yes years) have consistently expressed a gender identity different from their biological sex...and only after extensive evaluation by doctors and psychologists...and only after the patients and their parents have been given clear explanations of the risks involved

We know this is not true but lets pretend it is true.

If someone claims they are an expert in gender affirming care for children, how do they prove that the child is really a boy stuck in a girl's body? Which test is ran in order to prove this?

With virtually any condition guidelines are set through a process of observation and learning (and yes trial and error). Btw other conditions also sometimes get misdiagnosed. And sometimes there is malpractice even. Not everything is as clear cut in medicine as an x-ray showing a fracture. That's why it takes so many years for someone to be trained as a medical doctor.

In the Arkansas case, the state was able to obtain testimony from their expert witnesses. They did not put forward a very creditable group. To put it mildly. Their testimony and their lack of credibility probably hurt the state's case. Which was not a legally tenable one anyhow. Arkansas' own governor vetoed the bill on the grounds it was a vast government overreach. He was right. And it was obvious from the getgo.

Pro tip: next time you want to use the law to bully and marginalize an already marginalized and vulnerable group, try to write the law with care so it is not so obviously unconstitutional and make an effort to get some decent expert witnesses.

Have you figured out how many genders there are to affirm yet?

Lets say a doctor has 12 years of education and 20 years of experience. How do they know that the child is in the wrong body?

It sounds like you trust the professionals. Tell me what it is about their experience and professionalism that enables them to accurately know whether a child was born in the wrong body or not.

i am a doctor but not the kind qualified to make medical diagnoses...i thank you for the (albeit misplaced) vote of confidence

btw it occurs to me no one is holding a gun to your or anybody else's head to go to a medical doctor for a diagnosis...just as no one is forcing trans kids and their families to do so...if they want to place their confidence in a medical professional that be their bidness...and no one else's

If I asked you how a doctor knows if a patient has a broken leg, you would probably respond with the fact that they could tell by simply taking an x-ray. I don't think you would respond with some randomness about whether or not they were forced to go to the doctor.

I asked how do professionals know if a child is born in the wrong body. Just asking your opinion. Obviously it's something you believe they are capable of doing with accuracy so surely you would have some sort of information that I don't on how they come to this assessment. How do they do it?

Sure. With lots of medical conditions a doctor simply has to look at an X-ray or MRI to know what is going on. But that's not the case with all medical conditions.

Ok so with this medical condition, how do they prove that the child's brain is in the wrong body? An MRI or an X-ray doesn't prove it. What does?

psychiatry is the field within medicine that deals with this and other psychological conditions

the field has developed various diagnostic methods over its long history

surely someone with an inquisitive mind such as you can find some reading materials to satisfy your curiosity

I'm sure he knows that. The problem is that you're playing with a child's health based on an educated guess. On top of that how many of these children will change their minds over the years since kids don't always know what they want. What then?

I'm not playing with any child's health. I'm respecting the leeway I think those families should have to make difficult and sensistive healthcare decisions. Without vast governmental overreach in the words of Governor Hutchinson.

One would reasonably believe maybe the medical community is full of **** after Covid but here we are placing minors health in their hands on questionable (at best) science

There are medical professionals and medical colleges who were filmed publicly saying how these kids are a huge revenue generator because they will always require intervention for their mutilated bodies to function
