Legalization thread

IANAL but doesn’t the term ‘federal offenses’ not mean anything? There’s not many people in ‘federal custody’ for simple weed possession.

Nobody is sitting in jail for having a recreational amount of weed on them. Anyone claiming otherwise is ignorant.

I live in a state where it’s as red as you can get, and the cops don’t care about simple possession. It’s only a charge when the person arrested is an asshole. Cops don’t want to do all that driving and paper work for a simple PR offense.

The legalization push is coming from big corporations as they’ve lost out on a bunch of cigarette revenues. Weed should absolutely not be legal.

Its still a cash business which makes areas around dispensaries super dangerous.

But ultimately there are more illegal grow operations and all growers are still selling a portion of their grow (marking it down as failed growths) to black markets. There is more weed on the street than ever right now.

It’s still the way we legislate marijuana in general causing this. If we treated marijuana like alcohol, we wouldn’t have these problems.

Unless you're talking about on the federal level where you're unlikely to get people in jail for simple possession, you're simply not correct.

No I’m not wrong on this. Nobody is in jail on simple possession.

A couple thousand a year are arrested federally with the most serious charge being single possession. I dont jnkw how to link the pdf report but a basic Google search will turn it up for you. Even if they aren't currently in prison they carry a yellow star from the conviction substantially hurting their ability to work.
