Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Major League Baseball has informed several Braves prospects that they will meet with them on Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple sources. The players will either meet with league officials in person in the Dominican Republic or be informed of what's happening by phone.

Someone has to know who the prospects are that are on this list.

If they're meeting in the DR that would suggest kids that were recently signed. Wouldn't most other kids be in Orlando?

All reports when this started was that this is much worse than what the Red Sox did.

I've heard that it was more extensive but haven't heard that we were violating any more serious rules.

Even so, the Braves self-disciplined. They fired their GM and their head of international scouting and later squeezed out their president of baseball ops. That alone is WAY more severe than any penalties imposed by MLB on the Red Sox.

Also, the scope of what's being talked about as far as penalties go seems to go far beyond what reportedly was happening. Unless the Braves were kidnapping the siblings of prospects to coerce signings, what looks to be headed our way is complete overkill.

The Braves aren't being punished for violations, they're being made an example to deter other teams from doing the same thing in the future.

Instead of making an example of the Braves, why not take a prospect from several teams that broke the rules too. If the other teams come away fine, the Braves get screwed, then does it really set an example?
Teams can say, let's just not go overboard with it like the Braves and we'll be fine.

There better be rock solid proof PROVIDED to the public for such harsh penalties. Our “findings” won’t cut it imo.

It is really beyond belief in today's leaking and social media culture that we have gotten literally zero details leaked.

I'm growing tired of Shanks simultaneously discussing his inside information and requesting basic CBA information at the same time. Mother****er, if you have sources with the Braves, ask them if the Commish is able to **** us raw. The answer will be yes.

MLB may announce the Braves’ penalties later today. This punishment is expected to be severe. The club could lose many of the international prospects signed within the past two years.

MLB is just incredibly stupid. They're essentially coming down on the Braves with the maximum possible punishment they could levy even after the Braves self disciplined by firing their GM among others. You can pretty much bet no team in the future will self discipline now as MLB is showing it wont result in any lessening of sanctions.

The best motivator for a GM to not pull this stuff is fear of losing his job. MLB has largely removed that threat by coming down on the Braves. So incredibly stupid. But then again, no one has ever accused Manfred of being a genius.

It's an Atlanta/Georgia sports team. The worst case scenario possible is ALWAYS in play with them. Expect a whole class to get vacated. Maitan is a very big possibility. Pache is a very big possibility as well.

Man, screw Coppy...

Today is going to undo the best part of his legacy with the team.

I don’t want to ever read again that he got railroaded. He had an unprecedented opportunity to sign as many international prospects as possible and now that effort is largely for naught.

Hard to say it but Jeff wren was right about coppy.

Lets not forget the actual players we traded to get more bonus pool money. Money spent on players who are about to go away.

Yep. They didn’t just send him packing because stats

Doesn’t matter.

It’s obvious the Braves cheated and cheated horribly. Why should we be able to keep the players we broke the rules to sign?

The egg is on Atlanta’s face, not MLB

The worst part is after all this cheating they didn’t really get international classes that were that much better than other organizations.

They got Maitan and a bunch of meh.

I don’t know what’s worse, that they broke all the rules, or that they did it for so little benefit.
