Kershaw is a beast, no doubt. But unless he is going to pitch all nine innings, the Dodgers can be beaten. It is somewhat humorous that Braves fans of all people can't seem to remember that just having a dominant starting pitcher in the playoffs does not guarantee a playoff win. Crazy things happen and there are a LOT of 8th and 9th inning wins after both starters have left the game. Kershaw could have a bad game. I seem to remember Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz all having bad games during the playoffs. Remember when the Giants lit up Glavine like a Christmas tree? Remember when the Indians beat Maddux in Game 5 and Smoltz in game 3?

The point, is that the Braves are a good team and they are pretty evenly matched with the Dodgers. The writer of the article mentioned in the beginning of this thread is clearly pulling for the Dodgers and spun the article to favor his ideas. The truth is that neither team had a stellar September but still did what was necessary to get into the post-season. It is all moot now.

Let the games begin!

(I'm not making fun of you, just making fun of everyone picking against us).

Only 2 ESPN guys picked us to beat the Dodgers, and I think both have us going to the WS with one picking us to win it all and the other losing to Boston.

The way I choose to look at it is this. We were 40-41 on the road, roughly .500. If we win 1 of 2 in LA, we should be able to win 2 of 3 in Atlanta. My method makes as much sense as theirs.

And we could very well put up 3 runs vs Kershaw. Kershaw gave up 3 or more runs 7 times this year which is about 20% of this starts. Maddux had some pretty ERA's too but even he gave up runs in the playoffs. All it takes is a bloop and a blast and we got 2 runs.

No matter how much you and your legion of doom tag team buddy want to believe the worst, I give up on my team when the last out is made, not days before the first pitch.

Saying the Braves are the "most disrespected 96-win team out there" and "have an edge to them that makes them dangerous."
 
Medlen beat a dominant Cliff Lee the other night. So it's possible.

I love Medlen's mettle and moxie but I'm sure that quote is now written somewhere in the Dodgers' clubhouse. Or at least it's given Kershaw extra motivation. Maybe he'll be too amped up.
 
I hope these guys are on edge. Its the playoffs. The dynasty brave teams seemed too calm to me.
