Yeah Drake hasn't shown much power yet but dude is crazy fast.Gil hit another HR (his 7th) and Southisene scored his first walk (and was also 1-4) in Augusta’s 10-0 drubbing of Kannapolis.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Drake will finish his season batting over .300 at Rome (with a .346 OBP)—though his .682 OPS shows he still has big strides to make in the power department. He’s still quite (just turned 20), has a ton of speed, and plays a legit CF—he’s another guy who could be a fast-mover in 2026.
Drake made a lot of progress on with making contact. His K-rate dropped from 35% in 2024 to 21% in 2025. Next step is making solid contact and increasing power. With a guy with Drake's speed, the old adage that "you can't steal first" is apt. Braves have been patient with him and I hope they start him in Rome again next year. He's another guy who would have benefitted from playing in the now-defunct Short-season A Appalachian League instead of being pushed to Augusta in 2024 after a so-so year in the FCL in 2023.Gil hit another HR (his 7th) and Southisene scored his first walk (and was also 1-4) in Augusta’s 10-0 drubbing of Kannapolis.

He WAS a top 5 prospect for us. He was probably even our top overall prospect heading into 2024. But the 2024 was a disaster of a season for him and fell off the radar. Its a great system. Look at Waldrep. He was not even a top 5 prospect for us. Just a few innings difference will determine whether he is a rookie who would now rank highly or not a rookie thus not helping farm rankings. This is why farm rankings are irrelevant. Thankfully we arent an organization that lets those things influence decision making.
It's not exactly rare, but it also doesn't happen regularly, that sometimes a switch gets flipped with a pitcher and things turn around dramatically. It sounds like during Murphy's rehab in Gwinnett that he had a sit-down with Waldrep and helped with pitch selection and it has made quite a difference. Consistency going forward will be the key and I still think he needs to hone is control a bit. Very promising couple of months for him however. He WAS a top 5 prospect for us. Surprisingly though, he was still ranked top 100 overall on Baseball Prospectus coming into 2025 and top 50 on FG, so at least some people were still relatively high on him.
