MLB Draft Thread

I think these people know what they are doing, despite the tendency of people like us to second guess every decision they make.
Not to get into the squabble affair that's taking place, but there is nothing wrong with questioning a strategy that goes against the grain of what seems to be a straight on strategy. If the guy you believe is talented and is the BPA, I personally don't fk around to save money for lesser (hypothetical....theoretical...don't get worked up), or a tier lower player. THAT IS MY THOUGHT.

You can love this draft and be right. You can hate it and be right based on how you see it. The Braves brass get paid lots to do this. So I only criticize when I see them in person. But not being a fan of this draft is not a full on "crap on the Braves," its a differing of opinion. I'm OK with the move in a different direction, (position players), and just OK with the draft. I hope in 3 years I'm over excited from the reports I hope to give.

I agree that if everything is nailed down pre-draft, going through the front door is the way to go. But it's always going to be a moving target to some extent and sometimes you have to account for the variables. I don't know what the plan was this year, but from my vantage point McKenzie and Essenburg were the prime targets and they wanted to get them while landing a couple of hitters.

Fair point. There's so much splitting hairs though. From fans. From scouts. From experts. It is what it is. I don't know how many of you watch as many prospects as I do (which means nothing), but I've witnessed our system consistently for the last 10 years...I've seen the guys the Braves loved and I saw why. And in another instance..wtf did they see??. I'll wait to be critical for sure. But I'm not over the moon over this draft. That's probably because they didn't select a few I liked. Doesn't make them wrong...and for those who liked it, I see it.

but...didn't all the under slot guys go before him? are you suggesting they were going to use the extra cash on several small overslot guys, and then decided to splurge on him mid-draft?
I mean it's certainly possible it was just one of several strategies that had to be adjusted mid draft. Do you honestly think this draft fell exactly how they wanted it to, pick for pick? The chances of that are remote.
