Curse of the Braves

Best pitching staff for ages with three HOFers and can only win it once.

Curse of the Braves

I believe we are.

Other teams have a bunch of no-names have huge series and complete opposite for us

Well, this is shaping up to be a fun game. Both Vogelsong and Miller are being hit hard. Both got slapped around a bit in the 1st but only gave up one run, but the Cards lead-off with a double and a single in the 2nd and are back on top 2-1.

Is there any doubt? Not just all the freak things that happened in the 90s, and the shortcomings of the early 2000s.

Yes the Hammond deal was maddening in 2002. That bullpen was sick.

Everyone wants to point to the Kansas City bullpen, well in 2010 we had Wagner, Venters, Kimbrel, OFlaherty as well as Moylan and Farnsworth. Think about that, couldn't the baseball Gods have been more forgiving in Bobby's last season with all the heartache him and us endured? That pens better than KCs currently. Only to lose Wagner in the playoffs....sigh, our rotation was better, a hot big game equivalent starter in Lowe (eq of a Shields) with Hudson and Hanson. And a healthy Chipper, Prado, and Glaus as well as JJ sure would have been nice.

But that's the story of the Braves.

Yep, something bad always happens to us, i know we'll never win a WS for awhile.

While teams like Stl/SF will keep making deep run after deep run every freaking year.

Giants doing what they do, and erase a 4-1 deficit. Up 6-4, now. Hope they hold on to win, but I'm sure the equally "never say die" Cardinals will answer. I'd kill for us to have just 1/10th of the postseason fortitude the Giants and Cardinals have.

And no matter how nondescript their regular season was, it just seems that as long as they make the playoffs they're going to have random players get hot at the right time, get a few dozen fortunate bounces, and win a series or two or three.

Yep, guys like Grichek, Wong, and Taveras hits a huge HR down 1 in the 7th in Game 2.

That never happens for us.

Wong is locked in right now and was a highly regarded prospect but thats besides the point.

I'm convinced we could win 100+ games and we'd lose to one of them in the playoffs where a bunch of no-namers beat us, baseball gods hate us.

As many insurance runs as possible for the Giants would be nice. Who knows what the hell else the Baseball Gods have in store for the Cardinals.

Yeah, runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out, and they don't get either one home. Now I'm sure the Cardinals will find a way to scrape together two runs by the end of the ninth inning.

Put down the crack pipe. You made a lot of good points and then inhaled before you typed in the Lowe/Shields comparison.

This is the worst playoffs I can remember. I really don't care to see two teams in the world series that aren't in the top 5 teams in baseball; KC may not even be top 10.

But it has been an instructive set of playoffs in that it shows how execution matters. Kansas City is a nice story and the Giants may have overtaken the Dodgers had Pagan and Morse stayed healthy and Scutaro had not missed almost the entire season. I have a lot of respect for both teams. Bochy ranks right up there with the best managers in the game right now.

What's Uggla's playoff share going to be? I imagine Brandon Hicks will get a chunk of change and he deserves it. He had a heckuva an April and May with some huge hits for the Giants before coming back down to Earth.

The majority of runs seem to be on mistakes....games decided on pitchers throwing the ball away, etc. It's not a matter of 1 team executing, it's a matter of the other not doing it.
