MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

It's one advantage of a good organization overall having a crap year - you can trade excess veteran pieces and reload. When you're in it, you can't afford to do that, even if just playing for the crapshoot game.

Lots of good talent on the market this year in regards to starting pitching. They've done a nice job of filling their corner outfield holes. They could easily sign three good to great starters this offseason.

Their corner infield holes with .300 OBP guys that can't field?

Mariners get Denorfia. Really? Can we not get anyone. lol Come on Wren, get up off your butt.

We have no money because of the Santana deal due to all the pitching injuries. It's too bad because if it wasn't for the Medlen injury, I'm thinking the organization would have been put in a pretty good position to be very aggressive in getting Price or Lester (or to a lesser degree a Burnett type pitcher). Now in order to be in on them, Wren has to be creative and get a third team involve and move salary, and so far he is having a difficult time finding another dance partner.

So we're stuck in another promiscuous situation, as we don't have the means to afford a top line starter or position player upgrade and are in a position to acquire a need to upgrade in the bullpen (specifically a lefty) and a bat or two for the bench. The only problem with that, especially the lefty reliever, seemingly every other team is in need of them too and is willing or able to offer more than the Braves have at their disposal.

Every time I check the Nielsen rankings of market size, Atlanta is the 9th largest market in the country. Larger than St. Louis or Detroit. How do they have money and we don't?
I know that we have a bad tv deal but it can't be that bad is it?
