MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

Braves went for the playoffs, others teams went for a championship. Not saying it's Wren's fault because the money situation has been made clear. And I have to think if he had a real chance to get one of the bigger names, he would have been able to put an equal offer without crippling the franchise.

It's just incredibly frustrating that an organization that has had a ton of success over the last 25 years is not able to go land a real impact piece that can take it to the next level.

It's embarrassing.

You just contradicted yourself.

Also, what could we offer to top Cespedes?

Price is another story but the money issue was the problem and who knows if Frank would trade that much for a 1 and 2 month rental.

Would you trade Minor, Peraza, and someone else for Price?

1. No contradiction. I understand why we didn't, but that doesn't change the fact it's an embarrassment.
2. Nothing. That's beside the point.
3. Yes, I would.

Man... The Tigers have 3 aces, a number 2... And a number 3 as their 5th starter. Plus the best hitter in baseball. They are disgusting good.

Verlander is likely their 5th best starter right now. Pretty crazy. Still, The A's got a stacked rotation too. I would like to see an ALCS between those two teams.

Looking over some of the trades:

The Tigers are a clear winner to me today. Their rotation is filthy. Adding Price to Scherzer, Verlander, and Sanchez, man. That is tough.

Thank goodness the Dodgers didn't do anything. They're good enough.

Disappointed in the Pirates. I felt they needed to do something today. Missed chance.

Do not like the Cardinals deal for Lackey. A lot to give up for an aging pitcher.

The Phillies....................................LOL! Ruben Amaro is a complete doofus.

That trade for Price would be a steal

I kinda wish we had gone and gotten prado back at least. Still hope we are a player for Price once hes a FA.

Breaking, we wont.

Tigers will probably open up the checkbook for him assuming they let Max go to FA this winter.

How is it not? There were pieces out there that could have been had. If you don't want to invest money in your team, you shouldn't own them.

So do we trade Minor, others for Lester and watch him walk after the year?

Same with Price but watch him walk in 2 years?

Again, the injuries are why Frank couldnt get involved in that, not because of Liberty. They'd have money to absurb for someone like Price.

You are completely missing my point. My point is it's an embarrassment ownership won't invest. If they would, we could have acquired Price and had a chance to extend him. We should not be in a position where signing Santana hamstrings the team from bettering itself at the deadline.

I'd be a little more reluctant on Lester, but hell yes, I would trade Minor for either. Would have to think on it with Lester. Wouldn't think twice with Price. It's not even close.
