My first trip to Suntrust with the fam....

Yes, I'm sure many Walmart employees have navigated life in such a way that they work at Walmart and are then going to complete a college degree lol.

Are you some sort of middle manager at Walmart or something?

I am not... they were an old client of mine though.

Just think they get unfairly bad wrap... and frankly, give me the person willing to work bagging groceries over the countless people who don't and demand government hand outs

That’s what I love about it.

Athens, GA is called the Classic City.

Last time I went there, it was a great nostalgia trip, as a lot of the big chains (fast food and grocers) had their classic retro layouts inside the stores. Was cool to go back into Publix and it felt like 1997 again with the old layout and signage. Old McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Dairy Queen as well. Haven't been i a few years so not sure if those places remodeled or not. But I loved that throwback feeling.

Walmart is the largest employer in almost every single Southern state. Due to being poor, Southerners can't afford to shop at Walmart. As a result, dollar stores are the only retailers that are growing in number.

These are facts. Sorry if they are offensive.

Not offensive to me, WalMart largest employer no duh. Lots of location and centers everywhere. They ran trucks, big wearhouses, distributing centers , no only retail. In every town, and city many locations in each.

Besides WalMart carry flat TVs on lay away. So pretty good shopping when they put on discount sales . Dollar General not carry TVs . Hope they carry soon!

DG has Smokey and the Bandits 1-3 in the dollar bin though!

Fremont Street is like that. The gritty and better Las Vegas.

I was disappointed with "the strip" in vegas the first night i went. it was just the one with the mall and stuff, but it was relatively quiet, esp. for a saturday night. we stayed in old las vegas after getting back from utah, and yes, freemont street is much more in line with what i expected out of vegas. and that was a wednesday night. wild stuff going on.

I once lived near a fancier plan Dollar General that had just been constructed and it wasn't so bad.

Went in it again recently and things had definitely declined.

I kind of miss the Kmarts. You could get in and out of there in no time at all and not see but a two or three people. Was not a positive for their business plan, I don't guess.

I won't go in our Wal-Mart. Course after a recent drug murder there, some customers set the thing on fire so it is not an option at present.

Great, but that's not the topic of discussion.

Offering college tuition to Walmart employees is about as practically useful as offering them stock purchases. It looks good as a talking point about how great the company is, but none of the employees benefit in any significant way.

Then folks like you who are completely out of touch tout it as some great thing, when in reality companies like Walmart are receiving corporate federal aid in the form of subsidizing their employees because they don't pay a living wage.

I bet you think starting a business is as easy as "getting a loan from your parents".

I don't think you know nearly as much as you think you do. I've worked with brilliant people from Walmart which allows them to make more revenue than any company on the globe. They don't do that bc they're idiots.

I don't support any corporate subsidies, including walmart.

And again, their employees at low levels are at least working, and kudos to Walmart for offering them a path to better themselves. Talk about out of touch...

Also, I started my own business last March. Thanks for the concern though

Any Spokane hidden-gem tips?

IDK, I always felt the local places there that people always raved about were very overrated. I ended up eating big chains more often than not. One good spot downtown though was Steelhead. Solid food there. If you like hard ciders One Tree Hard Cider is fantastic. They opened a restaurant downtown last fall but I never made it. Cheney had some good local eats so usually I stayed there for dinner since I chose to live near campus.

Always interesting to hear people's opinions when they've got stock-options for counting cards, ain't it???

Again, not on topic.

I'm talking about folks working at Walmart being unlikely to take advantage of college tuition reimbursement.

You're continuing to defend the brilliant executives at Walmart.

Seems to me your effort in defending them means you know it is nothing more than a talking point attempting to make them look like a great employer.

LOL, I can promise you my skills are more highly valued than whatever real estate support role you perform.

Off you go to appraise a double wide for $100 fee. Chop chop!

You do know that WM has loads of employees that are something other than greeters right?
