NBA Thread

FWIW, I watched the game today and I thought McGary looked great. He flashes good 3rd/4th big off the bench potential which is a huge commodity.

I don't deny what you say about him could be true. He has talent. Everyone in the NBA has, or at some point, had talent. But it's impossible to predict their future after one game playing against a deplorable Clips' bench.

But it isn't about one game. I've seen him play now in an organized environment at the next level. The D-League is a better product than College. The kid can play. Everyone in the NBA has talent but there aren't 6'10 guys with his size that can dribble, finish with both hands and shoot from 16 feet out. That is not common and its those reasons that I think he will be a very productive player for the Thunder for a few years.

Yeah, but like you said. The Clippers have awful big man depth (especially with Blake going down) but as I mentioned, McGary has a unique skill set for a man his size. A big man that you can facilitate offense with is rare.

That's fair. Except to the average fan (myself) don't be surprised if I don't trust your ability to scout D League players by watching Internet streams of the OKC Blue.

I honestly don't know how often you hit or miss on players. I'm sure you do a lot better evaluating Thunder players than I do because you watch them and the rest of us don't. But let's not act like you aren't wrong either. For every "Harden will be a star" there's a "Roberson is the best perimeter defender" that goes forgotten. I don't think it means you are dumb. I think you have a lot of basketball knowledge which is why I have as much fun debating you because you see the game much differently than I (not that I am right and you are wrong. We are both likely more wrong than right.)

Roberson isn't the best perimeter defender in the NBA?

I enjoy debating with you as well. You at least can have an honest conversation about players.

Well I think it's pretty evident at this point that even the Thunder don't feel that way. No?

Roberson is a good defender but he's not the best.

Klay, Tony Allen, a healthy Paul George are all better.

In an era where perimeter defense is king, to be played 15 minutes a night is pretty indicting.

Well, perimter defense is king as long as the player isn't a complete negative on the offensive side. Right now Roberson doesn't deserve more than 15 minutes a night but that has absolutely nothing to do with his defensie prowess.

Wolves are looking good lately. Rubio coming back and Martin adding a viable perimeter threat.

Rubio and Wiggins is going to be an absolute joy to watch moving forward. What an incredible deal that organization got for an overrated player that didn't even want to stay.

I am not saying he isn't any good, but I just personally don't think you can be considered the best of anything playing 15 minutes a night. Especially since defense is largely a factor of effort and energy which is something guys that play 30 minutes a night can't have consistently.

Thats a fair point. I think Roberson will gradually earn more and more minutes as long as KD plays since then the added stress of having Roberson on offense is mitigated. Roberson will learn to shoot a big better and will become a 25-30 minute stalwart.

Can't win them all. Millsap and Horford each played their worst game of the season tonight. One-sided officials in the second halve, on the road in Memphis, and two of our main contributors were awful. After all that we were still in it with a minute remaining.

Off the top of my head.

KD being a top 2 player WAY early in his career.

KD averaging 5 assists per game.

The Hawks emergence.

Jimmy Butler.

Harden being a superstar when giles said he was a role player.

Reggie Jackson.

And many, many other things.

Everyone knew Durant was going to be great.

Reggie jackson....lol

Harden was a role player as a rookie.

I like debating with thethe as well. Its hust funny how he overates players. Its in good fun. He actually has knowledge unlike a couple on here.

Mcgeary would be lucky to turn out like a Josh McRoberts. Hes a big man that can facilitate.

Thethe called maynor the best backup pg in the NBA and ive watched him for 10 years. Hes terrible.
