NBA Thread

Oh so I guess you don't remember BRule saying that he would never even be a top 10-15 player CURRENTLy in the league.

Wait until Reggie is a starter somewhere. Guy is a damn good player.

Harden was not a role player in the way you think it means. And you didn't get on board until the Thunder traded him. Guy was a star the second he came into the league and that is why I said it.

I like debating with thethe as well. Its hust funny how he overates players. Its in good fun. He actually has knowledge unlike a couple on here.

Mcgeary would be lucky to turn out like a Josh McRoberts. Hes a big man that can facilitate.

Thethe called maynor the best backup pg in the NBA and ive watched him for 10 years. Hes terrible.

Maynor was really good for the Thunder but now I watch a lot more basketball so that was definitely not an accurate assessment.

Hard for me to compare him to McRoberts as I haven't seen much of him. Isn't Josh a competant three point shooter? I don't think that is the best comp but hard for me to say.

Rubio. Lol.

Buddy, Rubio is going to be real good. Maybe not top 5-10 like I said but he is going to be close. Only reason he hasn't gotten there yet is because of injury. That is a completely different team when he steps foot on the floor. Guy is basketball crack to watch.

I dont think BRUle said Durant would never be a top player. The argument was he wasnt at the time. Like Harden wasnt at the time.

You are decent at picking up on players that have potential but too often you claim they are better than they are before they reach that level.

No, BRule definitively said he would never get there. I even re-posted it a couple of years ago. Any person who knew what the heck they were talking about knew Durant would be a top player.

BTW, I did say KD would be top 10 all time during his second season. I even remembered debating MikeAdams on that subject way back when.

I like watching Rubio too. Similar to how i liked watching white chocolate. But Rubio is good in open court, terrible in the half court, cant shoot, and plays no defense.

The only chance he has of being a successful playoff type PG is if he has 4 great scorers around him.

He needs to improve his scoring ability for sure but I think he is much better in the halfcourt than you are giving him credit for. Minnesota hasn't exactly had stud teams around him so far but right now they are building something strong. Still not sure why they gave Martin that deal but with Wiggins on a rookie scale contract it doens't hurt that much.

He doesnt have to score. He just has to make teams play 5v5 on defense instead of 5v4. I saw how teams could defend the Wiz before Wall became a shooter and he was still much better than Rubio is. They dont even bother guarding him.

He also can't shoot

He also can't shoot

He can't finish at the rim which is a big issue but his long range shooting has improved. Wolves are one of my favorite teams to watch when Rubio is out there and his game has massively improved. I think the time off actually may have helped his shooting ability as it was probably the only thing he could do for a while. Lets remember Kidd was an awful shooter early in his career. That can change. Rubio is going to be an absolute stud in this league.

His previous years, he actually shoots 45% at the rim which sucks BUT it's way better than his over averages. From 23 feet and in, he's pretty much a 35% shooter.

He was that type of shooter. That doesn't mean he won't improve. You write off players too quickly based on performances when they are really young. Rubio will improve his shooting ability and in his brief time this year he has shown that improvement. Now he just has to go do that over a larger sample size.

He's never been able to shoot, could he improve? Sure.....but he's more likely to end up like Rondo than Kidd.

Disagree. Rondo can't shoot because he has abnormally large hands for a man his size. Thats why he is able to do the things on the floor that he does with his dribbling and passing since he engulfs the basketball. At he same though it hurts his shooting ability.

45% at the rim is atrocious. I wouldn't even say that is "better" than the rest of his averages in a relative sense.

He's a career 32% three point shooter so you could envision a world where he could become an average shooter from three. But he has so many holes and his inability to finish makes you hesitant.

I like how Cleveland gets hot and people like Cowherd act like they were the only ones who saw it coming or are acting like Cleveland has been so slighted by people.

Yup, his biggest issue is that he can't finish at the rim since he doesn't have even above average athleticism. What he needs to do his improve his three point shooting to take it to the next level so teams just don't go under every screen.
