NBA Thread

I like how Cleveland gets hot and people like Cowherd act like they were the only ones who saw it coming or are acting like Cleveland has been so slighted by people.

Cleveland got hot because they got a rim protector who can finish at the rim. Mozgov changed that team. Without him they had no chance of competing for a title. They had literally nobody who could deter other teams from penetrating to the rim.

Rubio is a career 38% shooter on 2 pointers. 47% from inside 3 feet. 27% from inside 3-10 feet. 27% from 10-16 feet.

Kidd was still a much better shooter early in his career than Rubio is. An absolute stud is a joke. His best case scenario is Rondo and there are people that make a good case that Rondo is overated.

Total over simplification. Moz is pretty good, but he's not the sole reason. They've battled injuries and integrating new players all year long.

Getting rid of Waiters is probably as much of a reason as getting Moz.

There are obviously other parts that came together but without a legit big man they had no shot.

What legit big man do the Thunder or Heat have?

Legit rim protectors? Several on the Thunder and Bosh was a solid defensive player and Anderson was a decent backup defensive big but look at what happened to the Heat last year when those pieces weren't as good.

So you are just talking about rim protectors? Something Bosh is not.

Lol at Bosh being a rim protector

Bosh is a very underrated defensive player, especially for the first couple of years he was on the Heat. But again, those teams had a young prime Lebron and still prime Wade/Bosh so its not like those types of teams grow on trees anymore. Teams do not win often in this league without legit rim protection and the Cavs had none of that prior to Moz.

Eh... You can win as long as you have generational talents (LeBron and Durant), but for the rest it's pretty much universally accepted you need a rim protector.

For the Cavs why are you guys arguing a false dichotomy? It's pretty obvious they are turning around because (a) Moz (b) Waiters is gone (c) the biggest reason is LeBron is playing his best ball of the year.

(d) JR Smith

JR is definitely the type of player that plays better around better talent. Wish the Thunder could have gotten him. Waiters is a disgusting player to watch but at least he is better on defense than his reputation. I just wish they would play Reggie 30 minutes a night.

But as chop said, you need rim protection and that is what Moz has provided.
