He shows signs on O but he is beyond shot on D, if GWall and Hump for Amare is actually on the table, I pull the trigger, yesterday.

But how many times does he get his shot blocked on offense? I hate to see it because he was perfect for NY at the right time. That half a season generated quite the buzz here in NY.

Knicks just need to tear it down again. The WORST thing they can do is give Melo another max deal IMO. He is not worth the money. Let him go to LA where he can be the 2nd or 3rd option depending on what Lebron wants to do. Knicks can do much better. Players still want to play here.

He gets it blocked but he's still amazing in the PnR, he's a shell of his former self but he still has value to a team...just not the Knicks.

Melo, I have no idea...and honestly don't care either way. If they sign him, it can't be with the same supporting cast because this current team is a horrible match for his game.

The problem is BRule is what type of team can you put around Melo? He is not the type of player you want. He is a ball stopper. That is the last thing you want on your team. The great teams are based on ball movement (something that unfortunately OKC still needs to work on) and solid defense.

I have been saying it for a few years. I can't take away the year he had last year because he was really good but I still believe he is vastly overrated and will never be the focal point of a championship team. Maybe the Knicks discovered something with Bargs and can get him on the cheap. Then hope to lure in another top guy in the next two years. Extending Melo is basically just forfeiting your championship hopes for the next 5 years. His game is only going to get worse. He is now starting to miss a lot of close shots that he didn't miss two years ago.

Because teams need scorers like Melo, he can be horrid the first 3 Q's and bring you all the way back in the 4th on his own...he's done it countless times. I'm not the only one that said he's the best scorer in the NBA and I'm not having that argument again. You surround Melo with a pass first PG, a strong defensive SG/SF that can knock down 3's and a defensive C.

This team isn't even that far off, losing Tyson killed us, MWP is our 3rd best defender and hits over a 3 a game and Felton has been hurt. Honestly, if they make that Boston trade it fixes A LOT of issues. The way we are playing is obviously concerning but I'd be far more concerned if we were playing like this at full strength.

Yes, there is no denying that Melo is a great scorer. I still believe that Durant is the best scorer especially now that he is developing a post up game. But in terms of a total offensive player Melo lags behind many individuals. I don't believe he plays fundamental team ball. He is a ball stopper. He has good vision and solid passing ability but he doesn't look for his teammates enough. The part that kills him obviously is his defensive issues or lack of effort on the defensive end. You can't have your star player be so awful on the defensive end. It just doesn't work. He needs to inspire his teammates to play harder and playing hard is not something that you think of when you think of Melo.

Yes, the Knicks would be better with Tyson out there but then that nerfs what Bargs has been doing. The mix is just awful and I'm not sure how it gets fixed.

Is Melo the best defender in the world? No....is he a horrible defender? No. He has turned himself into an above average defender. He's holding his opponets to 15.4 PER, KD holds his to a 13.8 and RW is at 15.8

Those numbers aren't the end all. Does Melo guard the best offensive player on the other team? Does KD? The answer is no in both situations. I don't know the best way to really evaluate that. I just know what I see when I watch the Knicks. Granted, I'm not watching all 82 games but I think I watch a substantive sample of games to make a statement that Melo is not a good defender.

It's not the end all, be all, but it tells part of the story and it's that Melo has greatly improved on D since his first year in NY.

Fair point. We won't really know for another year or two if the move was the right move. The repeater penalites are brutal for a team like the Thunder. The early return on Lamb/Adams have been good but there is a long way to go. Ibaka also continues to get better and better and that is a part of the trade that needs to be analyzed as well. The Thunder chose Ibaka over Harden essentially.

Great article about the new repeater tax penalties about to be imposed in the NBA. I didn't realize just how harsh it was. Nets are going to be in some trouble real soon but I suppose Prokorov has plenty of money.
Again, yet another reason why trading Harden was essential.

I've been saying the same thing for awhile, the luxury tax penalties are a bitch.'

If Harden accepted, OKC would be in the lux tax for quite awhile.

I dont know if it was smart but if they kept him on a max deal, it would basically be those 4 and a bunch of rooks.

Not necesarrily, they could of had both but there would be ZERO role players if they gave Harden the max.

They offered him 2-3 mil less in AAV in which he signed for which is why i think its hilarious BRule/HarperFan act like they offered him nothing.

Please show me where I've said they offered him nothing, all I've ever said was....I'd keep Harden over RW or Ibaka.

If Harden would of accepted 4/48 like Ibaka did, absolutely.

But not at 5/80 which he would only sign for.
