How does your mind work?

Serious question. Help us all try to understand Heyward a little bit better.

Davis had a good rookie year, but it was hardly some all-time good year like yall seem to think it was.

I was wrong on AD, but this has nothing to do with it.

His rookie year wasnt that great.

Yup.

He only ranked as the 6th best PF in the NBA his rookie year. And one of the top 20 players in the NBA his rookie year (per wins produced).

Not an all time great rookie season, but certainly the type of player who would vastly improve your team which is what the original argument was about.

Aside from providing a vague, unfounded narrative, you aren't addressing the real question which is how Okafor, Towns or Mudiay helps improve the Knicks long term.

Where did i say they wouldnt help them?

I SAID AS A ROOKIE THEY WOULDNT HELP A TON AS IN MAKE THEM TITLE CONTENDERS.

MOST ROOKIES HAVE STRUGGLES.

Mudiay i could actually see since guards do well as rookies.

Okafor will have struggles going up vs bigs the same size as him, i firmly believe that. I dont see Towns being a star player in the NBA.

So adding a rookie year Anthony Davis wouldn't make them a much better team? Despite him being a top 20 player.

Also, no person here is claiming the Knicks are going to contend next year. But max players don't only sign with championship contenders.

(I also understand that Okafor isn't as good as AD, but that's essentially the argument you are making.)

You implied his rookie season was not good because he "only" averaged 13.5 PPG.

Right, and i dont think any of the rookies in this draft other than Mudiay will have a major impact right away.

Okafor will struggle vs NBA bigs.

Towns hasnt impressed me much in terms of superstar type.

So there.

So you're saying AD was a top 20 player as a rookie?

Unless i misinterperted that.

How is "right" an answer to that?

How the **** was his rookie season "not good" and secondly, why use PPG as the end all be all?

He was 18 in the West on a horrible team....

Again, it was a good year, yes, but thats about it, nothing to write a book about.

Never said PPG was the end-all, be-all.

Agreed, he had a good year but that type of year isnt gonna be a game-changer.

I should also state that I absolutely understand that catch all stats have a lot of holes in them. So I'm not saying unequivocally he was a top 20 player. In fact, due to limited usage he probably wasn't.

But on a per 48 minute scale he ranked as a top 20 NBA player his rookie year according to the metrics.

How do good seasons not equate to being game changers? I don't understand.

What was the point of your post then because you've backtracked rather quickly

AD had a good rookie year, thats it, the end.

Even still, AD as a rookie > Okafor as a rookie, thread over.
