Are you envisioning him on the floor with Melo often in a PnR situation then?

I'm sure they will be on the floor at the same time. How often? I have no idea....the Knicks have a ton of interchangeable parts and will make for a fun season with all the different combos they can run out there.

There second unit should be fun to watch. I'm just not sure how many of these interchangeable parts are really interchangeable with Melo. Thats the big issue I have with it. I don't think they are surrounding Melo with the right players. I like that Bargs is a wing scorer but you have to eliminate defensive responsibility for Melo and having Barg on the floor with him does the exact opposite. I know the move didn't put them in any worse of a cap situation moving forward but I am just not sure it really works to getting the Knicks into more of a relevant status for the Eastern Conference. They will get eaten up by the teams who are big down low (Indiana/Chicago/BK) but aren't going to be able to have enough defensive players to stop the opposing teams with multiple wing players who can score (Miami/Chicago/indiana). Maybe I am wrong but I think the Knicks are going to take a step back this year only because the rest of the conference got stronger.

Amare can play the 4/5

Bargs - 5/4/3

Tyler - 4/5

Melo - 3/4

MWP - 2/3/4

JR - 1/2/3

Shump - 1/2/3

Udrih - 1/2

Felton - 1/2

Hardaway - 1/2

They can go small with a ton of combos, can go big....they won't have issues scoring. I think the D is going to be better with a full year under Shumps belt after the surgery, adding MWP is a huge boost to the D, if the Knicks play D they will be scary....if not, they are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th best team in the East. Still a tough out for anyone as they will be one of the best offensive teams in the game.

Also, yes Indy, Miami, BK and the Bulls (Rose), got better....but so did the Knicks.

Again though, my opinion is that you can't surround Melo with guys who can't play defense. I LOVE Shump..think he is going to be a damn fine player but he can't guard 4's/5's. I know you love Artest but he is not the player he once was. He is nto a guy that will shut down the opposing team. The Knicks have one guy that can defend wing players and a very good defensive center. They do not have anyone that can defend the 3/4 consistently especially if the opposing team has more than one win scorer.

The Knicks should be able score obviously but there is much more that they need to compete.

Tyson, Shump, MWP all play very good to great D

JR, when he wants to, he is a very good defender.

Prigs is a good defender

Bottom line is Shump, Tyson and MWP are going to play a ton of minutes with Melo....plus Melo guarding 4's > Melo guarding 3's.
