Neverending **** the Police thread.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_in_Policing_Act_of_2020

Democrats introduce the "Justice in Policing Act of 2020". Some good stuff in there but as usual Democrats dont understand the problem and go with what sounds good instead of addressing the problem of over policing and over criminalization. This does little to fix the problem. If I had a vote I would vote against it on the grounds that if they pass it they will declare the problem fixed and move on. Why are only the evil politicians competent.

Well you could use google to find out that there are ****loads of protests about street violence like that or you could rush to a forum to try and make a cheap political point. The difference between that crime and police crime are that I can defend myself from the average criminal. The ones with guns and badges I cant. I don't really see the difference between being carjacked at gunpoint by an average criminal and being arrested at gun point by a cop for a victimless crime. Exact same thing right down to the financial incentive.

You want to talk about street violence that's fine but the solutions has never and will never be over policing of morality laws. We created the black market for drugs that leads to this kind of violence. How do you think gangs and level criminals gangs finance themselves? Robbing people isnt a long term or lucrative career. It is the drug revenue that gives them strength.

Who did what now? Do you want to fix the problem or just create a revolving door of criminals to punish? No country on Earth that isnt ruled by a dictator imprisons people at a comparable rate as we do. Maybe.... juuuuuust maybe we cant arrest our way out of this problem.

I do however support holding the people who led us down this path accountable to international law. We need Nuremberg style trials for international war crimes related to the ear on drugs. Its nothing but the holocaust in slow motion

Why would you question the motives of Ellison and not the motives of Trump when he doesnt want to release evidence. Is a shred of consistency too much to ask for?

The context. Any idiot can say stats out of context. I could just list the worst stock market days under Trump. Those are facts too.

Now that this is settled who wants to bet the fake news media on the right will STILL claim Biden supports defunding the police.

The most violent day in Chicago in 60 years was during a protest saying black lives matter. Those deaths were blacks. Shouldn't there be some outrage over that? There absolutely should be outrage over Floyd's death, but why doesn't BLM address the bigger threat to black lives?

Because you arent paying attention when they do. Protests against violence not related to police doesnt make the news. Certainly doesnt make right wing news. What you dont understand is that the violence is a result of over criminalization. Those thugs that do that **** arent created in a vacuum. They werent created over night and they wont go away over night. If we focused less on the minor victimless crimes we would have a lot more police to work on the serious violent crimes. Its not a coincidence that the arrest and conviction rate for violent crimes has gone way down since the start of the war on drugs. Theres a great group called Law Enforcement Against Prohibition who explain whats going on from the inside. I will spare you posting the videos and let you look for yourself if you are interested. They make a better case than I ever could.

Perhaps you're right, but I can't find a BLM protest over black on black murder. I've saw Chicago residents protest against it, but not BLM. Again, I could be wrong, and I'd love for you to prove me wrong... I'd have a lot more respect for BLM.

BLM does downplay black on black murder. It is a mistake on their part imo. To acknowledge the magnitude of THAT problem doesn't detract from the need to act on institutionalized racism. BLM the organization is a out there in their policy prescriptions. I suspect they are out of step with most African Americans in many of the details of their policy views.

I'll add that we have a lot of violence in American culture. African American culture manifests some of the worst of that. It is not often appreciated that African American culture has appropriated certain things from white cracker culture. Not all of this has been bad. The cross pollination in music has produced some great things. But the violence is a big downside.

You're so obtuse.

BLM is a loose group protesting against Police Brutality and systemic racism, and you're just propagating systemic racism further by going "look at black on black crimes"
