New Manager Discussion

Obviously Buck Showalter is out there, but he seems like someone unwilling to adjust to the modern game also.

I see Dave Martinez mentioned, didn't realize he was 61. His record with the Nationals is 500-622. While it's true much of that was during a rebuild, I do remember some underwhelming performances immediately after they won it all.

Wonder what it would take to poach Kevin Cash from the Rays.

Schumaker
Melvin
Cash
Baldelli

Those seem like the 4 favorites around here. I just hope we don't see Weiss get a shot or Freddi G come back. Those would be beyond terrible

One name I haven’t seen mentioned that might make some sense - Ryan Flaherty. He’s the bench coach for Counsell with the Cubs and also worked with Melvin with the Padres.

I’ve seen his name mentioned, not necessarily with the Braves, but for other openings. Not sure how much experience is going to matter in the Braves search or not. I definitely see him as a potential fit somewhere

I do believe he played for us briefly in 2018? With the inimitable Preston Tucker...?

You’re right - I thought I remembered him having a pretty hot start with us, but he ended with -0.4 WAR so that might be wrong.
He and Tucker both had a hot start. Unsung heroes for a few weeks. Then went back down to earth.
