New Manager Discussion

Why would McGuirk insist on that?

McGuirk has no ties to Gibbons. AA does. That doesn’t make sense.

Maybe the real story is that someone wanted a former manager to babysit Lehman (perhaps Gibbons was suggested and was willing and Weiss was not) and Lehman wasn't willing to accept that.

I think people get fixated on candidates sometimes and make them more important than they really are.

After all, who the hell is Lehman and what has he done, to make such a fuss over?

Weiss is uninspiring and sad for sure. But Lehman is nobody.

My theory with Lehman is that we waited to make contact until the Series was over and were then told he wasn't interested. We had Weiss on the shelf as the backup option. It's the simplest explanation.

I don't believe for a second that AA was overruled. The Braves aren't a dysfunctional organization.

I think this is close to accurate, but I'd be willing to bet there were expectations of continuity placed on Lehman that he wasn't willing to accept.

Either way, we get to watch another dinosaur bumble through strategy for a few more years. Should be awesome to watch WW play checkers against competent managers.
