Braves get Verlander and Fulmer (Braves take all the money)

Tigers get Fried, Demeritte and Dustin Peterson

Reverse salary dump. Braves average cost of Verlander and Fulmer ...

Who are u thinking as far as lesser arms. Ian Kennedy replaces what Colon was supposed to do. Is that what we have to look forward to.

In that case I'd almost rather see if either Blair or Wisler have anything to offer.

We've had unusual health in our starting rotation this year. In a normal year guys in AAA like Wisler would accumulate a fair number of major league starts. It may yet happen.

But I think the plan for 2018 will be to have four "established" starters and one guy who is learning (probably Nook but could be one of the others).

Not going to get it done unless we take Zimmerman awful deal too.

I think to move fulmer they will require allard.

A Teheran trade is obviously a big longshot, but here's what Heyman had to say in his latest.

2. Julio Teheran, Braves. The Braves listen to almost anything. As reported here three weeks ago, they would consider trading Teheran (and the Astros had already called). Atlanta, thanks to some amazing recent play, are on the cusp of contending. But so far SunTrust hasn’t exactly agreed with him. And like we said, the Braves consider anything. The ask is “really high,” says a Braves connected person. “A package of big-league players.”

No chance Avila packages Verlander with Fulmer just to get his deal off the books.

That would be like say trading Kimbrel and attaching BJ....that would never happen.

Not quite the same, Fulmer is one of the best young P's in baseball under control for 4-5 more years.

Teams dont trade them without a haul coming in return. RP's are traded all the time.

Of course we would have to add to it, but taking on V would lesson the blow no doubt.

Verlander came in 2nd in the CY last year, yes hes been bad this year but he still has some value.

Even still, no chance Tigers trade Fulmer without getting full value in return.

The goal now is to sell tickets, not commit money long term, and keep the farm. A guy like Verlander checks those boxes. Ironically he needs to pull a Smoltz and change his style a bit to stay relevant.

I would not want to give up a lot for him. I don't think salary will be much of an issue.

I think the battery is making the Braves a ton of money.

I think looking at the population of players on short (2 years or less) deals with high AAV are reasonable targets moving forward into theoffseason.

Ticket sales have been great and like you said the battery is probably a healthy stream of operating cash flow.
