to get a better player
Ah, I see. To take on that contract I'd want someone better than 11-15, if that's what you meant.

Unfortunately, I doubt the Yanks would really pursue salary dumps. They could easily afford to just cut him and eat the money without giving up any extra talent, if it gets to the point where they REALLY don't want him taking a roster spot.

reading MLB trade rumors I read that the Yanks were very cost averse b/c of luxury tax. IIRC it was in an article about Prado and how they couldn't take on his salary.
I'm operating in a world where the braves have money to spend and nobody as a free agent worth spending it on. I think we should be looking for a salary dump as a way to improve the club.
salary dumps have 2 virtues...they don't cost much in the way of prospects and usually have shorter duration and less risk than a new free agent contract
I'd want to see the full proposed package on a Headley "salary dump". I'm not sure I quite understand that deal. If its to get Headley, I'm sure it can be done. If it's to get Headley and a good prospect for Atlanta's trouble? I'm not sure I see that happening.
27 pages and not a single trade yet! I'll be glad when SOMETHING happens.
Fulmer would cost an absurd amount.
Rumor is Cubs offered Schwarber for Fulmer.

Cubs waited too long to cash in Schwarber. It was clear from the start he was a DH that needed to be traded away from the NL while his value was sky-high. They stubbornly tried to make him stick at C or LF, and saw his value drop substantially.
Pretty painful mistake made by the Cubs, especially considering how blatantly obvious it was that Schawrber had no defensive position in the NL game (or at least with the Cubs who have Rizzo at 1B).

Are you criticizing the Cubs' brilliant front office?
Since someone has pointed out that Freeman just might not win a Gold Glove at 3B, why not trade Demeritte and Tyler Pike for Prado and $10 million and platoon Kemp and Adams in LF?
