Official 2024 Off-Season Thread!

Yankees are very very much in on him. They want/need him pretty badly as well. But yeah, it's gonna be crazy how much he ends up going for.

They better hope his stuff translates to the MLB. If not somebody is in for a long expensive time.

One thing I'll give Frank Wren credit for (and I give him credit for very little) is his plan to enter the Japanese market. He signed Kawakami, had a Japanese night in association with the Japanese consulate, and was making an effort to globalize the Braves brand while tapping into the Japanese pipeline of talent.

It didn't work largely because Wren bet on the wrong player but the idea itself isn't terrible.

He's the best Japanese prospect to enter baseball, pitching wise. It's worth the risk though, given his age.

The obvious counterpoint to this would be Dice K. I remember reading some outlandish tales about his infamous gyroball for years leading up to him coming to the US.

Darvish was huge too... you guys remember Kei Igawa? He was massively hyped and absolutely sucked for the Yankees... only pitched 16 games with a 6.66 ERA.

He doubled down on his stupid by retweeting that tweet and saying to put Acuna in there at 7. I could at least forgive him forgetting Acuna. Believing he's only the 7th best hitter in the game is just silly.

His ranking in general doesn't make sense. Personally I'd put Acuna #3. As hitters I'd put Judge and Alvarz ahead of him. I think for whatever reason his 2022 season is dragging him down in Heyman's and maybe some other peoples eyes. But I think that should be thrown out since he was coming back from knee injury and he showed in 2023 he's 100% back.

Soto hit .242 with a .452 SLG in ‘22. Seager, .245/.455. I think the more likely explanation is Morosi is retarded.

Remember all that **** about Ohtani wanting to go to a team that wins? Consistently contending for championships? In the last 30 years, Toronto has won one division and made the playoffs 5 times, never a WS. Why not just say you’re following the money?

Because that's bad for your image

Not to mention word got out of him touring their Spring Training facilities and meeting with their brass there the other day.

After trading for Soto and Verdugo to fix the OF for 1 year the Yankees almost have to sign Yama plus 1 more legit SP. If they don’t rebuild the rotation it won’t matter how good the OF is.
