Also, it's odd to see the shift in pitching from the NL to the AL this year. Seems like the AL is loaded with top tier Cy Young candidates. At least 2 teams have multiple guys who might be the front runner for the Cy Young if they were pitching in the NL instead. Since Strider had has recent stinky spell, the NL now only has about 5-6 guys in contention. But it's basically a runaway for Stroman at this point.

Mets fans in shambles

Based only on this past week for the Braves, I would say the AL has more talent overall. We struggled to beat a Tigers team who turned into the '27 Yankees when they played an NL team, and then turned around and foot-stomped the Rockies, which has on paper about the same offensive firepower. The offense, of course shined against both, scoring 61 runs this past week.

The Tigers would be terrible even if they were in the NL.

I'm surprised at how many bad line-ups there are in the major leagues this year and with Riley Greene on the IL, the Tigers don't have a whole lot. Still, they managed to take 3 out of 4 from the Twins over the weekend. Twins are oddly mediocre this year. It's not that they are mediocre (there personnel should say otherwise), but they've found a way to play like a mediocre club.

Where though? I'm not seeing much top level starting pitching around the NL right now among contending teams. The Cubbies and the Pads probably have the best rotations outside of us and neither one seems particularly likely at this point to make the playoffs. Dodgers aren't getting much beyond Kershaw and Gonsolin (who is more similar to Wright/Charlie). Same for the Giants. I guess the DBacks have Gallen and Merrill as legit top of the rotation guys.

Maybe things will change, but the only other contending team with real formidable starting pitching in the NL right now look to be the Marlins. Especially if Alcantara can regain his previous form.

If they get healthy and get right, the Brewers pitching staff is one you'd want to avoid in a short series. Although they are no lock for the playoffs and their hitting is terrible. Luckily they are in such a bad division.

Wheeler and Nola, and other duo you'd like to avoid. But neither has been nearly as dominant this year.

Yeah, I can’t ever imagine beating the Brewers pitching staff in a best of 5.

Thought the Jays might help out today against the Marlins, but they’re down 5-0 through five innings.

We complain a lot about Snitker (and, mostly, rightfully so). But at least he doesn’t have Eddie Rosario leading off, and Michael Harris II hitting second, which is the equivalent of what the Jays are doing (1. Springer, 2. Varsho).

Weirdly… that series was the toughest in 2021 imo

Braves probably should have lost game 4 and facing Burnes in Milwaukee in game 5 would have been tough.

Biggest hit of Freddie’s career was that HR off Hader

I don't think any of us are particularly worried about the Marlins taking over the division anytime soon, but man those boys are playing some good ball right now!

I know we had a conversation about it a few weeks back, but Corbin Carroll is on an absolute tear. He just took the WAR lead from Ronnie. I doubt he keeps it up given he's had a ton of luck, but dude is legit and the D-Backs have a stud.

Similar to Acuna, AZ signed him to an absurd contract.

Arizona totally took advantage of the fact that Carroll doesn’t speak great English and doesn’t understand money. Messed up. MLB should step in.

It definitely was eyebrow raising that it said in the press release that Carroll has to donate a portion of his contract to the Atlanta Braves Foundation. Organized crime run amok.

And don’t forget it also states in his contract that for every year of his deal, the Mets have to send an extra million to Bobby Bonilla….

Burnes is really the only front line guy they have though. Miley is 36 and has never really been anything special. Peralta had one good year 2 years ago and has regressed/stayed injured since.
