Certainly doesn't seem like it.
I feel fairly certain AA explored all options. Not thinking so isn’t giving him his due credit

LHP Danny Young called up - Shuster sent to AAA and Seth Elledge DFA'd
Young should relieve Elder in his next start.

Remember, he broke his wrist last year.

Salt Lake City wants an expansion team

I prefer this to any expansion in the south that would cut into the Braves market. This is being pushed by the Larry H. Miller family, former owners of the Utah Jazz. They are not afraid to put up big money to make projects happen.
They own land for a huge development in the suburbs called Daybreak, and have already announced that they will build a new stadium there for the Salt Lake Bees, minor league AAA affiliate of the Angels. The plan is for a stadium to be a centerpiece of the Daybreak development.
They tend to be very successful at making things happen in Utah.
Our OF situation may be worrisome right now but at least we don't have Pache starting for us like the Phillies do.

The Jazz have done well in Utah for decades but I’m skeptical that market could support a second pro sports team. On top of that, this would essentially be a second Coors Field scenario.
The Millers are good owners though. Larry was an exceptional steward for the Jazz and Gail did a great job after Larry died before she sold the Jazz to Ryan Smith. They wouldn’t be the wealthiest ownership group in baseball, but they would occasionally pay the NBA luxury tax during the Jazz competitive years.
It will suck to lose Murphy as a team ambassador. He’s been so active with the Braves since his retirement. I imagine he would focus his time and attention with this new club.New information about this. Dale Murphy and others who were previously involved in the effort to try to attract a team to the Portland area have left that group and joined the SLC group. Apparently this effectively ends the serious effort by Portland and makes the SLC proposal more attractive. Rocky Mountain Power owns a 100 acre property just west of the city that would be redeveloped into a sports park and complex.
Sounds like this is picking up steam and is better organized and planned than many are expecting.
