Official official offseason thread

I think Correa want 10 minimum. If Turner got 11 why he is going to take 8?

Turner will probably hold up better long term with his body type. Correa has injuries every year that keeps him out. I’m sure somebody will give him 10 years but not sure who. Giants maybe? But just bc other teams were stupid enough to hand out those deals don’t mean everybody will be. Smart teams like the Braves and Dodgers won’t do it. I’d guess the 3 teams left for Correa are the Braves, Giants, and Twins.

Understood, but they're sunk costs. And can't wait for boozuna to hit the bar somewhere else. :-)

Correa is who I'd want as well. when he gets a little older you can slide him to 3B and slide riley to DH.

Grissom/Ozuna/Rosario can battle it out for LF and hitting 8th.

I think Correa wants to be on our team. But he's not coming for a discount. His agent has a reputation to maintain. There were reports of mutual interest last year.

He's going to want Turner money.

Rosario is fine as a LH bench option. He's overpaid so be it. Ozuna may not be worth the roster spot, but let him be the 13th man. 100% agree on sunk cost.

If you get Correa you have your first rounder and Dansby comp pick. Start picking some position guys to help us out in 4-5 years.

This is valid. AA might have to give Snit clear instructions. If it's a Wed or Thursday and a RH is on the mound, put Correa at DH, Rosario in LF and Grissom at SS.

Get Correa out of the field 25% or so of the time and do it on consecutive days

Swanson would be wise to wait out Correa. Then he'll really get overpaid. Seems to be me the Giants would just offer Correa what they were willing to pay Judge and maybe go another year or two longer on the deal. Although I did read somewhere that if they got any of the other shortstops, they would move them to another position and keep Crawford at short.

Agree. If Swanson is the last of the top-tier SSs on the board, he would be wise to wait because there will be multiple suitors for his services.

Even with Swanson waiting it out he’s still probably the most flawed offensively of the 4 so his value shouldn’t go up that much. I still think the Cubs will be the one that ends up with Dansby.

The second coming of Jeff Blauser? (He left the Braves for the Cubs' money about 25 years ago.)

I agree somewhat, but it will all depend on if someone gets really stupid in both years and AAV. Swanson picked the right time to have his career year, but there are some noticeable holes in his offensive game.

Dansby is clearly fourth in the pecking order of the top-tier SSs. Bogaerts won't stay at the position long, but each of the other three have a much more reliable offensive profile.

I’ve said from the start that Correa will be the best player of the 4 long term and the one I’d commit the money to. Hopefully the Giants sign Dansby and takes them out of the running for Correa and it’s down to just 2 teams.

This time around I think AA is gonna let Dansby make the first move unlike last year trading for Olson before FF signed. The casual fan is already up in arms over letting the 2nd guy go 2 years in a row. I think he lets Dansby sign them he makes his move unless it’s something he just can’t pass up on.

Interesting thought. There are more options in the SS market than there were last year w/ Freddie. Less chance of completely losing the musical chairs game.
