We could use some bullpen depth. We should get after it

Our pen is pretty deep as of now, i dont agree.

Smith, Dayton, Minter, maybe Newk from left side.
Greene, Jackson, Martin, MM, Ynoa, Sobotka, Weigel, O'Day, Walker, Touki maybe from RH side.

Non-tender deadline is tonight. Here is who we have to make decisions on. Most seem obvious.

Shane Greene
Mike Foltynewicz
Charlie Culberson
Johan Camargo
John Ryan Murphy
Adam Duvall
Luke Jackson
Grant Dayton
Dansby Swanson

I'd be surprised if Murphy was tendered, but I could I see us bringing him back regardless. Dayton may be as well. Everyone else should be safe.

Mark Bowman just tweeted this. Umm what!?

It sounds like the Braves may non-tender Charlie Culberson before tonight's deadline. This would not be a popular decision. Culberson's value would seemingly be increased next year when the 26-man rosters are put in place.

That would be a shock. Especially with how popular he is in the clubhouse. With his positional versatility I don't see how you don't bring him back.

Hader isn't simply BP depth, he'd be a key piece. Hader-Smith would be insane but I doubt the asking price is anywhere near worth it. Plus he's a sucky person.

Some of you need to have your sarcasm detectors calibrated

He's going to be extremely cheap next year. Why would they do that?

I may be wrong, but the projected salary I’ve seen is 1.5 million. That’s not expensive but getting into the range where there are equal options on the market. I believe the real Carmargo is the 2019 version not the 2018 version.

Culberson has been insanely lucky the last 2 seasons offensively with by far the highest wOBA-xwOBA delta of all Braves position players. His xwOBA of .274 is probably more predictive of his future offensive potential than the .326 wOBA he has actually posted the last 2 seasons.

Here are MLBTR's projections for arb salaries:

Shane Greene – $6.5MM
Mike Foltynewicz – $7.5MM
Charlie Culberson – $1.8MM
Adam Duvall – $3.8MM
John Ryan Murphy – $1.2MM
Dansby Swanson – $3.3MM
Luke Jackson – $1.9MM
Grant Dayton – $800K
Johan Camargo – $1.6MM

For approximately the same cash, the Braves can likely replace Culberson with Hech and get a better bat and a better defender.

I wouldn't be shocked either way to see Camargo/Culberson stay or go, but I suspect they will both stay. The minor improvements at those bench spots probably isn't worth the fallout from dumping those seemingly popular players.

I think your last sentence sums it up perfectly. Clubhouse culture can't be understated.

Could certainly replace Charlie fairly easily. But for the price, I'm partial to the mentality "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Camargo can't be the primary backup plan at SS in case Swanson is out for an extended period. Someone like Hech is probably acquired.

Fans on fb are going nuts that Culberson was non tendered. At that price point I would of kept him. Maybe they turn around and resign him.
