Official Playoff Thread

Using Strider 2-3 IP today means he can also be used out of the BP in Game 5 if needed. Fried followed by Strider could possibly be the most filthy combo in the game vs a platooned lineup.

I'm not sure why folks think a guy can sit for 2+ weeks and then come back and throw more than 50 pitches. I really hope Snit doesn't do something stupid and break Strider today.

Hope we can jump on Nola early and make this a laugher. That way we can use Odor and Stephens in long relief and save the good arms for tomorrow. Nola's good so that probably won't happen.

Are the Braves going to use Strider strickly out of the pen this postseason. if you use Fried/Strider in game 5, how does that set your rotation up for the NLCS. I know you play to win, but you have to also be mindful of not killing your rotation in the process.

We also have to factor in that Strider hasn't learned how to not throw 20+ pitches per inning. I'm only counting on 3+ for him. He and McHugh combined need to get us to the 6th.

Not sure I like this lineup going in.

And for the love of god and all that is holy, NO ONE BUT SLIPPY start the damn GDT

Because Arcia had two out of two bad games in the playoffs, so you might as well juggle it to see if you can find the hot hand. Never mind that Arcia is better defensively and is at least as good with the bat.

/Snit logic

But I was told AA takes the wheel during the playoffs. There must be something here

WHY NOT ****ING CONTRERAS

If you take out game 162 against non competitive Marlins pitching finishing out the season (he went 2-3 with 2 BB in that game) William has been cold at the plate. .594 OPS the 8 games before that. Huge GDP in game 1 with the bases loaded.

Lol. Is this a joke?

Not sure what it joke would be?

Billy is cold since the Mets series and Ozuna has 3 career HR's vs Nola. It's a matchup call.

So, we’re using small sample size nonsense over a full season worth of statistics to tell us who should be in the lineup. Brilliant.

Also, you seem to be trying to compare Ozuna with Contreras. I never mentioned Ozuna anywhere. You should probably look into Rosario’s numbers.

Contreras would be the DH... that's why I'm comparing him with Ozuna. He played only one game in LF and they aren't doing that again in the playoffs. And yes, recency bias is most definitely a factor in picking a lineup.

Ozuna should be in LF.. the defense is not that much of an upgrade for RoSorrio's lousy bat.

Contreras would be the DH. Ozuna would be in LF. Rosario and Ozuna are basically a wash defensively. Ozuna is a much better hitter, even this season. No one said anything about putting Contreras in LF.

Either way, Contreras is better than both of them. Zero reason for him not to be in the lineup. Using recency bias is always a foolish endeavor.

Pretty sure AA and the analytics crew do the lineups/rotation/bullpen decisions in the playoffs.
