Go take a look at the 1998 Braves. Here are some of their WAR numbers.

Maddux - 8.8
Glavine - 7.1
Smoltz - 5.6
Neagle - 3.7
Millwood - 2.7

Chiper - 7.1
Andruw - 7
Galarraga - 5
Lopez - 3.7
Weis - 2.8
Klesko 2.8
Williams 2.7
Perez - 1.9

That's 6 players with a WAR of 5 or higher.

Dodgers last year had Ohtani and that's it. Glasnow topped their pitchers at 3.8

The Dodgers are the best team in baseball. But saying **** like that is dumb. They are not a team with mega stars at every position.

The Dodgers also have 2 top 10 prospects in all of baseball.

And they both play their weakest position- OF.

The dodgers farm used to produce great players all the time, but I haven't saw that in awhile. Their guys seem to be overrated.
 
The Dodgers have three MVP level players at the top of their lineup and no real weak spot 4-9. Almost every pitcher is a health question mark, but 1-5 has Cy Young ability and Gonsolin, who is now the odd man out but still on the team, was pitching very well before his injury. Again, relatively speaking, the comparison isn’t far off.
 
Speaking of age, the dodgers are pretty old on the position side...



I doubt this is the season it shows up, but it's certainly possible .

Boy, I would absolutely love to have the 2 new Japanese guys, but one hasn't pitched at all in mlb and the other less than 100 innings. Seems a little premature to declare them cy young candidates. Now ohtani and glassnow are nasty as hell if they're healthy. Snell is good, but he walks a ton. I would take a healthy sale and strider over anyone they got

He only started 123 games that year. I feel like that's still a lot for a catcher who's a good but not great hitter. Braves getting near 6 WAR from the catcher spot that season.

B-Ref has him at slightly below average defensively and as a baserunner (which passes the smell test, certainly) and it was a SLG-heavy OPS. Still, 3.3 WAR (per B-Ref) does feel pretty low for that season. I think there's always been a belief that WAR doesn't do a great job evaluating catchers for whatever reason.

A healthy Yamamoto would absolutely be in the conversation and there wouldn’t have been this bitch fest over Sasaki if he wasn’t likely to be very, very good.

AA is going to pick up several players. The price point needs to be right though. We don't have a lot of great jobs to offer either. 5th starter RH platoon cOF mid leverage pen arm.

JJ was the set up man so I'd say we need a high leverage BP arm that's why AA went after Hoffman and the SP can be anything including a TOR arm pushing Schwellenbach and Lopez to 4&5 where they probably should start the year.
