PLAYOFFS?!?!?

Dodgers starting Knebel tonight, probably to screw around with the Giants plans. I'd imagine Urias comes in right after him, and it's not a bullpen game.

Every team should start an opposite handed reliever from starter. It allows your starter to go an extra inning without having to face the top of the order three times.

Guess my post was late to the party.

This is exactly what I wanted Snit to do in Game 4.

Some teams are playing on a whole different level tactically than the Atlanta Dinosaurs.

I know its still a disadvantage but just stack the top of the lineup with the handedness you want.

Will hurt later on because it'll be easier to matchup the bullpen but no manager will stack a lineup with a specific side hitter for a reliever opener.

It still ended up working out for the Braves. Charlie will be on normal rest for Game 2 of the NLCS and Max for Game 1. Still a risk for the Dodgers though.

The Dodgers are going to start Knebel as an opener in front of Urias in an elimination game to counter SF stacking their lineup with RHH vs Urias.

This is precisely what I wanted Snit to do in Game 4 by starting Minter to force Counsell to use his RHH lineup, only to then be followed by Ynoa (or Morton).

Some of these smart teams are truly playing a different game than the dinosaur Snit.

EDIT: Just saw you guys already talking about this.

We're not deep enough in the pen like the Dodgers are, to do something like that. They have so much bullpen depth compared to past years. They can burn Knebel early and still have Jansen, Treinen, Graterol, Kelly, Vesia, Bickford. Gonsolin and Price are their "worst" options. All that said, i probably would have opened with Minter though.

I'm wondering what the Braves will do for their NLCS roster.

Do they keep Gore on the roster as a pinch runner? Outside of pinch running in 1 inning, he did not make an appearance in the Brewers series. Do they go with 3 catchers? If Contreras was an above average hitter, i'd say yes, but I don't think the Braves see him that way. What about guys like Lee, Strider, Pache?

I'd add an extra arm instead of have a guy like Gore. Rodriguez or Martin should at least be on the NLCS roster even if they havent pitched well as of late.

You mean I might be able to catch a playoff game without having to record it?

I dont hate a 4-5 PM ET start, but a playoff game starting at 1 PM is just not smart. You can easily do one game at 330, another at 6 and then two others at 7-10 if you have to do 4 games.

Morton only went 4 innings, so the BP had to cover the rest no matter what. That was a forgone conclusion the moment it was decided Morton was starting.

The correct play was to force platoon advantages, which Snit is incapable of doing.

Can't argue with that.

Roberts said that the decision to start Knebel came from the “tippity-top” of the organization. That implies that Roberts wasn’t involved with the decision making. I wonder how that makes him look in the clubhouse.

It tells me that the smartest people in the organization are making the tactical decisions, and Roberts is doing his job by implementing them. He does his job very well
