As a New Yorker, I could see why people would feel this way about NYC. In my own observation, Yankees fans are certainly elitist, acting like they are the only thing that matters, and their writers are a different breed. But NYC is a different type of place. There is a passion that runs deeply that fans have for their sports teams. It's literally life or death. Having visited Atlanta many times, that same type of passion was not immediately evident to me. In fact it always felt like Braves fandom played second fiddle to football. And that's fine, it's just different in my opinion.New Yorkers, even journalists, are oblivious to the world outside of the five boroughs. It’s sad and true
I get it. And obviously the legion of lunatics is a small subset of the entire fan base. Clearly everyone doesn't behave that way.I personally like the laid back nature of Braves fan. They buy tickets and show up to games.
I don’t need us to be a legion of unhinged lunatics that call radio shows every day and put the players under so much pressure until they suck.
So yeah… New York fans are more passionate but that’s a bug not a feature
Braves fans just relegate that to Facebook and message boards instead of radio call-ins.I personally like the laid back nature of Braves fan. They buy tickets and show up to games.

Kicked our ass more than a few times.Phillies fans finally this year have come around to admitting Castellanos is terrible. Took them four years.
In the end the urgency to win doesn't really correlate to on the field performance no matter how much the fans or players want it.I get it. And obviously the legion of lunatics is a small subset of the entire fan base. Clearly everyone doesn't behave that way.
I just wish there was more urgency to win in Atlanta.
And now they are a top team choking it away. Life comes at you fast.Kicked our ass more than a few times.
They have Andrew Painter who looks like a stud SP and Aidan Miller, an infielder who is pretty highly ranked. Until they actually develop a good bat, I’m skeptical on Miller. Also don’t know where he plays until they dump Bohm or Stott, who they still might believe in (less so Bohm, think he’s worn out his welcome).I don’t pay much attention to other orgs. But do the faillies feel like they could be in trouble a bit. Ranger and Kyle both could be gone. Jt not the same and then Harper/nola/turner could be anchors of contracts.
I have no idea the depth of their farm however.
While I do agree for the most part, my opinion is that certain fan bases are more complacent and accepting of mediocrity. I do believe that rubs off on the players in some ways. It's just the playoffs have become such a crap shoot that you can't really use them as evidence of anything. In the end the urgency to win doesn't really correlate to on the field performance no matter how much the fans or players want it.
Plus you just don't know if Wheeler will ever be the same. They are going to have to spend a ton this off season just to get close to the level they were at this year. They have Andrew Painter who looks like a stud SP and Aidan Miller, an infielder who is pretty highly ranked. They’re stuck with Castellanos for another year at $20m. Bader is a FA so they still need a CF. Marsh is like good enough to be on the team but not good enough to be a full time starter. They don’t want to give him away, but he’s just not a very valuable or reliable piece. As you said, they need to replace or retain Realmuto, Schwarber, and Suarez. I’m mad they got Duran for basically free but David Robertson, who signed half way thru the season and pitched 20 games, is their high leverage righty this post-season. They need a lot of BP help.
