I think the big thing for Braves' fans is reamaining patient and not buy the 2017 stuff from the front office. In turn, I hope the front office is patient and doesn't start making a bunch of short-sighted moves just to be a middling team by 2017.
Dayton has made some odd moves during his tenure and I can remember all the harping on him when he traded Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, and two minor leaguers for Shields and Davis. I'm no great baseball mind, but I defended that deal as a classic now-for-later deal. No one saw Wade Davis developing into this, but that trade came up roses for the Royals. Don't get me wrong; I think Odorizzi may be something special and jury is out on Myers, but the Royals wouldn't have been where they ended up the last two years without Shields and Davis.
They've drafted pretty well, but again, it takes time for even the highest draft picks to develop into solid major league players.
