REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Lot of ****ty football being played right now. The nfl as a whole is awful.

They have a literal career backup qb that’s a danger to be throwing it and you want him throwing MORE just to get two guys numbers?

No, I'm criticizing the fact that the Falcons were out there taking pass catchers when they had no plan at QB, a terrible O-line, and no real pass rush. The Falcons were drafting like they had a solid core when they literally had zero core pieces. I'd have rather seen the Falcons trade back than take Pitts and London.

Falcons have invested as much into their offensive line as much as any team (which btw… the line has been fantastic this year).

I get the complaint about drafting offensive weapons when there are other needs, but at least London and Pitts are both studs. The quarterbacks they could have taken with those picks all seem like duds.

That's the thing. Josh FIelds is ****, Kenny PIckett probably is ****. Mac Jones isn't a guy the Falcons should draft. We took the second QB off the board in 2022. You could argue in 2021 we should have taken Davis Mills. But I don't think that would made a difference.

Fields is quietly turning it around. Some very Lamar Jackson-esque games recently. And he's doing it when basically zero talent around him.

I'm really regretting drafting Kyle Pitts on my fantasy team now.

Yeah, he has not been good. WHich is frustrating because he's so talented. But Mariota just is a bad QB. 174 Yards per game is ass. Sooner the Falcons draft their next QB the better. Glad the falcons lost to Carolina, Falcons could maybe still get Levis. And in 2 years we could be really competitive.

If they don't switch to Ridder next week the coaching staff are idiots. This team is not going anywhere this year. They're absolutely wretched. Send Ridder out there. He can hardly be worse than a QB you're afraid to throw with and at least you might get an idea of what you might have in him.

But I expect Arthur Smith to stick with Mariota and the absurdly conservative offense they've run all year. The team isn't just bad, they're not the least bit entertaining.

Yeah, the falcons are ****. I'm with you 10 weeks in RIdder should know the system well enough to start trying. THe fact he's not getting reps is dumb. He should be coming off the bench here and there to run some plays. And starting soon.

Kind of wild week in the NFL.

Bucs upset seahawks

Vikings upset Bills

Giants continue to be the luckies team in the NFL.

Packers upset Cowboys

And Rams seemed to Solidify that they peaked at the right time.

Fields with another impressive performance. 12/20 for 167 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. Also rushed for 147 yards and 2 more TDs.

He's looking really good and that offense has almost no talent around him.

I was just getting ready to post that. Fields looks like he is here to stay. I still don't think guys like him and Lamar are great long-term investments due to the injuries that inevitably pile up on running QBs. But they can be pretty electric while they are young/healthy.

Fields has started to come into his own, but I’m not gonna lose sleep over a QB with a 58% completion rating who takes an ungodly amount of sacks (many of which are self inflicted).

He’s definitely fun though. I would prefer watching his team to Mariotta.

The Falcons missed the boat on Fields. He could be the most marketable athlete in Atlanta because not only is he electric at QB, he's also a local kid. Instead we have a TE that our coaching staff insists on using as a blocker most of the time and a QB that can't be trusted to throw.

Get a QB who can throw and it will work out. Pitts was great last year with Ryan (who is clearly washed).

There will be plenty of QB available this off-season. Pitts and London make much more sense when Lamar Jackson is your quarterback instead of Mariota.

Fields is a bum

Comparing him to Lamar is stupid. Lamar's second year in the league he was league MVP completed 66.1% of his passes and lead the league in TDs and TD% with 6 INTs 7.13 NY/A While rushing for 1200 more yards and 7 TDs on the ground. Fields is completing 58.9% of his passes, 5.8 TD% 7 picks, 5.25 NY/A and is rushing for less yards per game, though more scores.

Seriously, FIelds has thrown for more than 200 yards once this year.

Bum.

Hope the Bears like him as their QB that's great for him. I don't want a poor man's Lamar Jackson as my QB.

Lamar, Jimmy G, Geno, Bridgewater, hell maybe you could convince Brady to try and lead Atlanta ot the promised land.

Lol cool story.

He clearly is not a bum. I never compared him Lamar, other than saying they both are injury risks due how they play.

He clearly has progressed a lot in a short amount of time this year. Since week 3, he has completed 61.1% of his passes for a 10/3 TD/Int ratio. He has 15 Total TDs over this span. Here's a list of QBs with more total TDs over that same span:

Patrick Mahomes
Joe Burrow

That's it.
