REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I came away impressed with Hyde/Tank/Mcdonald/Ellington/Dial/Ward. Yesterday was very patchwork because so many guys took the game off with various injuries.

However, the guys that have an opportunity to make plays with this team made some last night.
I was very thrilled with most of them as well. Especially Hyde. Tank I was ecstatic about when we drafted him. As long as he can get in the right place mentally, knowing the playbook and whatnot on defense, his talent will add even more to the defense.

My main worry right now is... if Kap goes down, the team is in loads of trouble offensively, because there is no real backup. At least last year... Colt McCoy would have been serviceable in the offense. Gabbart and Johnson.. Not so much at this point.

I don't buy into the fact that pre-season is completely irrelevant. Sure, it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things but I do believe that playing well in the pre-season helps the team buy into the coaching.

Didn't the Lions go 4-0 one preseason then proceed to go 0-16?
It means 0% of 0.

Correct. It's my favorite counterpoint to people caring about the preseason. Some teams play better in the preseason because they have more battles. Pats IIRC pretty much always suck in the preseason cause Brady basically never plays.

I don't think it means anything in the fact of future wins and losses. I believe though that teams can come together over the course of a training camp and pre-season.

If anyone is curious, Johnny Manziel completed seven of 11 passes for 63 yards. Couple of those in-completions should have been caught. He also rushed six times for 27 yards.

Interesting ....

After watching the Patriots-Redskins joint practices this past week, ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss came away thinking Robert Griffin III "didn’t look like the best quarterback on his own team."

Reiss is a wholly unbiased observer, so this definitely caught our eye. He thought Kirk Cousins "was better" than RG3, running Jay Gruden's offense more efficiently. Reiss says he spoke to members of the Patriots to double-check his observations of Griffin, "and then heard the same sentiment echoed by some others in the Patriots organization." Griffin remains a boom-or-bust 2014 fantasy prospect, learning a new offense where his running usage will be scaled back. Gruden wants to make RG3 more of a pocket passer. It may take time.

Same people said this in 2012. If they want to give us a 3rd for Cousins, they can have him. Colt McCoy may be better than Cousins.

I dont get the inflamnation with Cousins, he's ok but if the Skins can get a 2 or 3 for him, they should do it right away.
