REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Beckham catch was ridiculous. Goes right up there with Prothro helmet catch for Bama for best catch I've ever seen.

Lions looked really bad. 3 dropped TD passes (on 3 different possessions) will hurt you. Calvin is hot garbage right now. Hopefully Caldwell suspends Raiola for the dirty hit. He sucks anyways and he is a douche.

Our offensive line is getting into Falcons territory

The only play I saw Calvin bailed Matt out of a terrible decision to throw into triple coverage for like a 15 yard gain. He may not be playing well, but he is helping more than he hurts.

Calvin is getting no separation. He's not getting any yards after catch. And he's dropping 2-3 balls every game. Just not the same guy. Maybe injury-related... but he's not been performing to his usual standards.

Stafford is soooooooooooooooo bad

He needs to start performing. He shows the spurts of an elite QB but he is so inaccurate at times it's just baffling. Additionally, he's not getting any help on the O-Line or his receivers. But still, the guy has gotten worse.

It is his injury. You can tell by watching him. He's not at 100. Just good enough to play.

He also has no idea how to go through progressions

Which seems to be a recurring trend with QBs coming out who have the talent.

Think about this, Ryan came out in 09, he's an extreme freak where the mental game was largely fully developed. Since then how many rock solid top 10 QBs have been drafted? Stafford has the numbers but you pointed smack dab to a major flaw. This is also his first year without a healthy Megatron, and he's been bad. That's with Golden Tate still on the team. Wilson and Kapernick put up great stats until they have to carry their team. Before this year, Luck was more talk than production, he though had the mental intangibles unlike pretty much everyyone on this list he just took the leap and now is in the discussion for top QB.

Going into the week. The top 10 QBs in DYAR feature a ton of old guys. Peyton, Rodgers, Luck, Brady, Roethlisberger, Brees, Rivers, Ryan, Romo, and Smith. How many of those guys will be in the NFL in 3 years? I think you can knock Peyton, Brady, and Romo off, and maybe knock off Rivers and Roethlisberger too. And there really isn't anyone stepping into the role of a top QB like Roethlisberger, Rivers, Brees, etc. We may be headed into a QB drought.

Zito I agree with what you are getting it. However I think some of the issues is that it's a different game now. Specifically on the offensive side of the ball. All these spread offenses who want to throw the ball 45 times a game. You think these players could translate over because it's the primary offense in college. I think we are going to see more teams adopt a more balanced attack and rely on their running game more in the coming years.

I think it also takes time for these QB's to understand how to run these offenses. Lets give the new age QB's more then a couple of years before we write then off.

I think both can and should exist. I think the new rookie wage scale has basically brought back the value of the first round running back. Maybe I'll be wrong about this, but with everyone being on a 4 year deal guaranteed now and the new leverage system of the wage scale, I think late 1st and early 2nd round running backs will be back in vogue. Basically you can run someone to the ground for 4 years then kick him to the curb.
