REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I think it also takes time for these QB's to understand how to run these offenses. Lets give the new age QB's more then a couple of years before we write then off.

The issue is that others didn't need that time. Ryan performed immediately, Rapelisberger performed immediately, etc. Sure some guys need time, Brees is an example of that, but generally, you have it or you don't. I think what we're seeing is a new generation of Eli Manning and Jay Cutler types for the most part, they'll impress you with their highlights and have some great years, but overall they will be underwhelming. I hope I'm wrong, but if things don't change we may be back to the way things were in the early 2000s where QB play was at a premium. For those who don't recall that I'll give you an example ,in 2002 Mike Vick and Tommy Maddox were top 16 QBs.

Really good QBs are seemingly becoming increasingly difficult to find, that's for sure. A lot of people love those college running types, but that stuff just doesn't work as well yet in the NFL (and it may never). Too many guys rely on their feet to really impact games (Kap, Cam, RGMe, etc). You simply need to be able to throw the ball well, or be in a perfect offense (McNabb) to have sustained success. Guys like Luck are perfect: great mind, arm, and athleticism. I think Tannehill is on his way to becoming very good as well. He's extremely athletic and CAN run, but his game is not centered the least bit around it.

Hey zeets a little OT, but how's Trent Richardson?

Not great. Still think he's underrated in the passing game but obviously tha'ts not tracked. Still like the trade. I don't think Bradshaw would be doing as well as he's been if he wasn't a change of pace back and you trade a late one for someoen of Richardson's potential even if there's major flags because you have to take gambles. How is Marcus Smith doing for Philly so far (recipients of that pick) hell how is Johnny Football doing for the Browns?

Stafford has been in the league, what....6 years? 7? If you can't go through progressions by now and you're still locking in on 1st target then............

The only positive about Stafford is he is still extremely young. Hard to believe he is actually young than Kapernick

Not hard to believe. Kaepernick was a redshirt freshman who went on to play all 4 years in college. Stafford graduated a year early from High School and was a 3 year starter who left for the draft as a junior. He's one of the rare 21 year olds to start QB. There's only been like 17 in the history of the NFL with about 1/3 of those coming primarily to expansion. Only great QB to make their debut under 21 is Tarkenton and a side great on Bledsoe. The list of under 22s since 2000 is underwhelming

Vick, Alex Smith, Josh Freeman, Stafford, and Gabbert.

It was still a dumb trade. You cited two rookie. Trent can't get over 3.5 YPC. You can find that on the PS.

My point was that Stafford is never considered one of the "young QBs" like Luck, Wilson, Kaepernick, etc. Even though he is just as young as they are. It just seems like he's been around a while (and he has)

So apparently, the 49ers had one of the best if not best coverage units in the sport before Aldon Smith came back. Defense could be real scary if they make it into the playoffs.

How did Smith not get flagged for unnecessary roughness?

Been pulling that move for years. He really harps on guys and takes little shots all game long that don't get noticed. When the opponent finally has had enough they get called because on that particular play bc he didn't do anything to provoke it by the time the refs finally see what's happening.

So in my family fantasy league, we have 4 WR and 3 flexes where the WR can play.

My WRs are Julio, Dez, Hilton, Gordon, Roddy, V-Jax, Beckham Jr. and Steve Smith. So basically I have to decide who between Roddy, V-Jax and Smith will be the top contributor. And for my TEs (only 1 starter spot but 2 flex options) I have Gronk, Gates and Bennett. Thankfully the latter 2 have seemingly cooled off enough. Now my opposite issue as to why I am not killing my league is my RBs. Cause I have Foster, Jennings, Robinson, Gore, and McKinnon. Which would be OK with Foster, Jennings and Robinson with all those WRs, but Foster has been hurt.
