The thing is that the Pats have massive corporate deals. I'm sure the numbers are off, but this isn't the Red Sox.

Looking at the list to me it seems to be the more corporate a team is (big name, lots of outreach, etc.) the less ridiculous their fans are.
 
I think maybe this list was put together last year. Mass had some pretty strict regulations for COVID, plus they lost Brady and were pretty crappy, so a lot of their bandwagon fans left them and the ones that remained probably stayed at home to binge drink.
 
I'm a little shocked the Falcons didn't take Sewell, but I love Pitts. He's a mismatch's dream. Coupled with Julio and Ridley, Ryan is poised for a huge season.
 
49ers made the right move. Mac Jones ended up with the perfect fit for him with the Pats. I really don't understand why he was rated so highly. Dude is a statue. He's more likely to be Joe Flacco than he is the next Brady. Honestly was more impressed with Kyle Trask last year than Mac Jones.
 
I’m far from an NFL draft expert and I watch almost no college football, but I got the impression last night that more teams did the smart, logical thing than in most years.

Falcons drafted the guy who's most likely to be a generational talent. Not a guarantee of course. But coupled with Julio and Ridley, no one can cover the Falcons right now. THey're basically going to have to blitz and hope ryan makes a mistake.

I think if you could say, you have a shot at Gronk, would you pass that up?

Especially considering the history of Ohio State QBs, I would go with the safer pick.

Yeah, there was no true boner pick this year it seems, I think the dumbest pick was the Jags taking a running back in the first

I will fully agree that BPA there was Pitts. He is an elite talent that if used intelligently will be almost impossible to defend.

The problem is that the Falcons are in cap hell. It's so bad there's a non-zero chance they'll trade Julio this summer. Ryan is still a good QB but he's not got that many more seasons in him and I'm not convinced they can field a competitive team this year even with an offense that features Ryan, Jones, Pitts, and Ridley. The defense is bad.

The upside of Fields is one that could have a bigger impact on the Falcons than Pitts. He's got better tools than any other QB in the draft. He's more raw but that's why Atlanta would have been a perfect situation for him. Have him play being Ryan for two years, apprentice to him, and you could have one of the best QB's in football for a decade.

If the Falcons are looking to make one last run with Julio and Ryan, then Pitts is an obvious pick. I guess I'm more ready to see them rebuild. Get the cap issues over, tank for a year or two, and be ready for the next window.
 
I kind of want the Falcons to rebuild, but Brees retiring, Brady being old AF does open up a small shot for the Falcons if their offense can do all the heavy lifting.
 
The Falcons cap situation is pretty dire. They have less than $1 million in cap space but will apparently need $11 million to sign their rookie class.

I'm thinking they pretty much have to trade Julio at this point. There aren't a ton of options for clearing that much space. That could also explain why they wanted Pitts. They needed a playmaker to plug the hole they'll be opening up.

They should have torn this team down to the studs. It's a perfect time to after firing Quinn and Dimitroff. But they're caught in that gray area where they have enough talent to hope to compete but have too many holes to really have a chance at a title. They look to be trying to compete.

A lot of that 11 million will be off-set by the guys you drafted replacing similar players on the 51 man roster. Your dead cap and your top 51 are all that count towards the salary cap. So you probably only need clear around 7.5 million max for your draft class. You have 2.5 million in cap space currently, so restructuring/extending a couple of players would easily free up enough to cover that.

The Raiders took Alex Leatherwood at 17, who was widely considered a 2nd round pick prior to the draft. Pretty boner move if you ask me.

Saints taking Payton Turner at 28 is also a head scratcher, though I did like him as a prospect. I didn't see any 1st round grades on Turner prior to the draft and rarely saw any 2nd round grades. I guess if you're high on him and you can't move back then you take him instead of risking losing him. But it seemed like a pretty big reach.
