Fields has had no line, no receivers, and no play calling. If he could have sat and interned to Matt Ryan for a year or two, could be entirely different.

I wouldn't say he has no receivers. Mooney was a 1000 yard receiver last year does that mean anything? No. But he isn't garbage.

I agree the Bears suck. I don't think Fields would be a star QB in Atlanta. He could be better, but he's a joke right now, maybe he'd be mediocre.

Man it's really funny though and I know it's a small sample size of only 5 games. But Geno Smith is one of the 3 best QBs in the NFL by any metric, and Denver traded their whole future for a soon to be 34 year old.

Seems like the NFL has really fallen to a league of mediocrity across the board. The league is screaming for fresh blood star QB. Look at the last handful of draft classes.

2021 - Maybe Lawrence makes it out. Fields looks miserable, Lance could be good. Zach Wilson looks to be mid at best. And we know what Mac Jones is he's a manager.

2020 - Burrow could be great, but it's year 3 and he hasn't taken it to the next level. Maybe he will. Tua was starting to show signs, then Miami ****ed him up. He may never recover from this correctly. Herbert looks the most legit from this class. Not a bad class, but no one is jumping yet.

2019 - Everyone wants Kyler to succeed but he's looking like a mid qb.

2018 - This is how far back you have to go to find a true playmaker, game changing QB in Josh. Lamar is probably the second best QB taken in the last 5 drafts. Which isn't saying much as Lamar isn't a passing fiend, but he's a winner when he can stay healthy.

That's not a good haul and next years draft doersn't look super promising either. Hope I'm wrong but the league is missing a star QB or two to come out and catapult a team to success.

Fun fact the first 3 win team after 6 games would the 9th in the league. If Chargers loose that would be8 with the Bye week Titans holding 3-2 and the colts next at 3-2-1. There's 10 teams that are 3-3. If Denver wins tonight there will be 12 teams that are 3-3.

****ing wild how mediocre the league ahs been so far.

Week 6 DVOA in, DYAR rankings Geno Smith 4, Jared Goff 9, Mariotta 15, Russell Wilson 20.

Smith, Goff and Mariotta have a combined dead cap of 53.4. WIlson 124M.

The Russell WIlson trade has the potential to be one of the all time terrible ones. Denver gave up 2 1s, 2 2s, a 4 and 3 players to get to pay Russell Wilson 140M at the minimum. He basically can't be cut until after 2025.

Seattle got enormous value with Wilson both as a player with a mid round draft pick and subsequent low salaries and potentially as one of the biggest trade heists ever.

That’s basically a recipe for a sustained 20 year run of excellence.

I still think Wilson will figure it out. Not sure what's going there. I'm guessing it's the injury. Could be play calling. I find it hard to believe he's done at 34. He's been amazingly healthy for most of his career, so it isn't like he has a chronic injury that would end his career early.

I think Wilson was overrated. I think Pete Carroll runs a system that was perfect for Wilson. If Geno Smith can play at top 10 level that would likely cement it for me.

Has anyone’s legacy done as sharp of u-turn as Matt Ryan post 28-3?

He was a quarter away from a Super Bowl and MVP in the same season as the capstone to a HOF career.

6 mediocre seasons later (in no small part due to the crappy Falcons roster), the only team he’s ever known tries and fails to replace him with a rapist, then he’s shipped to the Colts who unceremoniously have to bench him because he’s arguably been the worst quarterback in the NFL this year.

Prime Matt Ryan was one of my favorite athletes ever. He was a true franchise QB that embraced Atlanta in a way few have. He made the Falcons the most excited team in the NFL while the Braves suffered through their worst years since the 80’s. He deserved better.

Ryan was always overrated

Says the boy who's hyped every Niners QB.

Ryan isn't the best of his generation, no falcons fan would say that. When you come up in the era of Peyton, Brady, Brees,a nd ROdgers, you can be very good and still not really stand out. But compare him to the generation right after him and he looks better, the best left standing Stafford, Wilson, Dalton, and Flacco, Ryan looks much better.

NFL went through a glut of QB talent drafted in the late 90s to around 2010. Peyton, Vick, Brees, McNabb, Brady, Ryan, Stafford, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, etc. Here we are in 2022 and BRady adn Rodgers are still expected big names.

We're leaving an era of unprecedented QB play. You're calling the man with the 7th most passing yards and 9th all time passing TDs overrated.

Ranking in all time lists are irrelevant. As the nfl continues to open up for offense Ryan’s career numbers won’t look as good.
