Rosenthal: Braves players frustrated with Fredi; he has "lost the clubhouse"

My completely out-of-my-ass opinion...

Hart was painted into a corner somewhat or at least was unprepared for the question about Fredi's future in the midseason article. Fredi likely went to Hart (or to Bobby) and wanted a definitive answer on his future after reading what Hart said. Bobby likely put pressure on Hart to go ahead and offer the extension. Fredi may very well have told Hart to either extend him or fire him. Hart probably didn't want to bring someone else in to take the fall for half a year. Why this was a concern I have no idea.

If he was hitting .500 I would have the same sentiment. He has to contribute immediately with minimal learning curve to justify the cost.

It's possible, but the margin of error is razor thin.

I actually feel the same way.

Hart is the outsider technically of the three headed monster. Cox and JS have a better working relationship and Fredi's extension was literally like a few days after that article came out.

Which is why his old @$$ needs to go too....as well as bowtie boy Schuerlholtz. Why hasn't anyone questioned the direction of this entire franchise since Bobby retired and came on as an advisor? It's awful.
 
I have been far from the harshest critic of Gonzalez, but if it is true he has lost the clubhouse, then he cannot return as manager in 2016.

My rank speculation: Fredi hasn't "lost" the clubhouse so much as not really having it to begin with. Like you say, it's a team that's been a revolving door of short-timers and scrubs, and a clubhouse that has been policed and dominated by a few veteran leaders. A lot of the guys may not have any personal loyalty to Fredi, and probably don't have :Bowman: that they're long-term tenants in Atlanta. Gomes and Markakis and AJ are going to make sure that there's a degree of preparation and professionalism in the clubhouse, but that's got jack **** to do with the skipper.

As for the guys you mention who have some standing to complain, there are darned few except the aforementioned vets—Freddie, JT, Miller, Tron. One more bit of rank speculation: I don't get the feeling that Freddie would jump on a live grenade for Fredi.
 
Once again, the good old boys running the show. When you think of accountability, I think you have to look at what our ownership has allowed to happen with the front office over the years. Why is John Schuerholz still even in a position of decision making? The dude is 74. Bobby Cox is also 74. Continue to celebrate the men, but don't let them make decisions.

As for Fredi, I don't think he's ever "had" the clubhouse. They quit on him during September of last year also. Plus, how often do you ever see him interacting with players? To be honest it's something I've rarely if ever seen.

Yeah. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Freddie led the charge.

Something that hasn't been mentioned much since it happened is when Fredi didn't go to the wall for Wood when Wood had a meltdown due to what he viewed as inconsistent calls by the homeplate ump. Those types of things do add up.

I've been harping on the trade of Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe a lot and I know it wouldn't have made that much difference in the team's performance (and we did get two mid-level arms that could contribute in the deal), but the revolving door that was installed in August can't do much for clubhouse atmosphere. Add to that the fact that our pitching has pretty much fallen apart and a team can deflate rapidly and dramatically. Even when a team knows deep down that it's not going to be a playoff contender, guys want to at least be competitive and when the white flag was unfurled a little over a month ago, the gentle breezes that were merely nudging the boat simply stopped and everything came to a screeching halt.

Again, I'm not wedded to Fredi. If there's someone who the team feels comfortable in putting in place and seeing through the re-build, I'm all for it. This is kind of reminding me when Russ Nixon got bounced in 1990. He was an old-time baseball guy saddled with a bunch of talented youngsters who were learning on the job. The state of the team is a little different here in that it's Freeman and a bunch of mid-ceiling (at best) guys, but I get the feeling that Fredi doesn't see them preparing and he's carping about it.
