Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

Play a dangerous hypothetical with me Chop.

In my world where 2020 was stolen and J6 was an inside job by the CIA - Do you think the people of this country would want those responsible to be held accountable?

I’m not the interested in a “Yes and” discussion. The premise I argued against was “Americans voted for retribution”. I don’t think they care. People just want to afford a home again. If Trump doesn’t deliver on the economy, voters will hold Republicans accountable. It’s simple.

“The enemy within” is just red meat for the base imo.

What better endorsement could exist?

Of course the backlash against Gaetz is the loudest thus far. He will make the most meaningful change to a corrupt system.

WTF are you blowing smoke up Gaetz's ass? If he had a D next to his name, you would want him thrown in jail. The ****storm surrounding him has WAY more legs than any of the investigations on Trump.

MQT is super serious about transparency. Just forgot to ask about it while Biden was in power.

No, I’m actually very against any government action being withheld from the public unless it is truly a matter of national security or unduly violates the privacy of a civilian in the process. I would love to strengthen the FOMA to remove many of the current barriers and have strict punishments for any circumvention of on-record communication. I’d also like the press to have even more access and for them to be critical of the government, even when it’s on their “side”. For as much as I don’t care what Twitter or Facebook did with their intellectual property, I still always agreed the government shouldn’t be involved. The only place I disagreed with you on the COVID and FBI social media things is whether or not they did something illegal or violated the 1st Amendment, which they did not.

Let’s do another dangerous hypothetical.

Let’s say Matt Gaetz indeed have sex with a high school girl. Should he be AG? Should he be in prison?

How old was Gates when this happened? Was it completely consensual? Was she 17?

If it wasn't consensual and/or she was under 17 I'd easily say prison.

But what I've leaerned is that allegations tend to be fabricated when its anyone who is staunchly America First.

Gaetz is a semi regular on warroom so I've known about him and these 'allegations' for a long time. He is also pissing off all the right people. He is sharp as hell and has hte mindset that we need to destroy the deep state.

I wish we’d get past the “let’s nominate/vote for/appoint person ‘x’ because he or she will most piss off the people we don’t like” instinct.

Call me crazy, but if she was 17 there’s a pretty wide range for Gaetz somewhere between prison and Attorney General of the United States of America and I’d prefer he stay within that.

When DC has been broken for decades its very telling when the establishment hates picks to enter the fold.

Figured you'd agree with someothing so basic.

These allegations and the investigation came out while Trump was in office. There is also some venmo history which suggest he paid for women. So did the Trump appointed DOJ decide to go after him?

Again - I'm well aware of what transpired and am just asking questions.

LOL talking about 'Trumps' DOJ - Just like his FBI.

But you seem to generally take it on blind assumption that the reason old guard hate some of these people isn’t because they’re just slimy little ****heads.

Again, you would be calling for him to be in Jail if he had a D next to his name, or if (gasp) it turned out he was a RDS supporter instead of a Trump supporter.

Well you think I've been introduced to Gaetz int he last week when in fact I've watched a bunch of Gaetz content for years now so spare me your outrage. You still don't understand what needs to happen to fix this country. Expecting people to be saints is not something that is a requirement in my analysis. He paid for women! OMG THE OUTRAGE! How many male friends have you had in your life before? YOu never knew someone who did this? Find that hard to believe.

Gaetz is bright, quick thinking and bold. Exactly what we need right now.

The gulf between Trump’s promises to slash the government and voters’ actual support for government programs is not going to make the Republicans’ job easier. Conservative pundit George Will wrote today that “the world’s richest person is about to receive a free public education,” suggesting Elon Musk, who has emerged as the shadow president, will find his plans to cut the government difficult to enact as elected officials reject cuts to programs their constituents like.

So Musk has said he would cut about 30% of the total budget from about 40% of it. Will points out that Trump is hardly the first president to vow dramatic cuts. Notably, Ronald Reagan appointed J. Peter Grace, an entrepreneur, to make government “more responsive to the wishes of the people” after voters had elected Reagan on a platform of cutting government. Grace’s commission made 2,478 recommendations but quickly found that every lawmaker liked cuts to someone else’s district but not their own.

Can you at least spare me your fake concern about grooming and eroded family values going forward then?

There’s a not insignificant amount of people who support austerity measures in large part because they falsely believe the spending that will be cut will just be things like SNAP benefits and administrative waste rather than services they value.
