Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

What about Soda costs? You're claiming an almost 100% increase and yet there is no record of that when you search.
the soda hikes started back from the original aluminum tariffs which have held steady through the Biden years. the price of soda is so high now it may be what it takes for me to kick it

I play golf with en exec from Lululemon... they raised prices

I play pickleball with a small business owner who does refrigeration for grocery and restaurants... he raised prices

I play pickleball with a small business custom furniture store. He sources his materials from Mexico. He raised prices

My brother oversees pricing at Advanced Auto. They raised prices. He says competitors O'Reilly and Autozone did the same.

Either these people are all lying to me, or maybe just maybe business raises their prices when their costs are raised. The healthcare experts would tell you this is true when minimum wages go up too, and I suspect you think that's another thing the healthcare experts luckily get right.

Trump removed tariffs on coffee and beef specifically to lower prices

The $400B or whatever the admin is bragging about was paid to the government from US Businesses. That is a fact. If you think they are just going to eat all of that without passing on to consumers, then you are actually crazy. I know I know "the exporters were the ones who ate it by lowering their costs to help the ol USA out." Nonsense

Since you decided to laugh at my response rather than comment, I’ll just say that the United States’ GDP (if that’s how you’re defining “superpower”) is over $11 trillion larger than the next highest country. We could craft a particular economic policy that causes the loss a trillion worth of GDP and still be the world’s economic superpower by a mere $10 trillion. I’m not sure what you find so surprising…

We had 40-50% tariffs on many products in the 19th century while Europe was going free trade and we buried them.

We are showing zero signs of GDP being hurt right now.

Your baseball analogy doesn't hold water.

its a bad habit I haven't been able to kick
the sodium is nuts.

its poison

Just stay full on water or try.

at the Palazzo earlier this month I paid 8.50 for a fountain coke zero to help cut out a hangover. That may have wound me up. Now when you go to a casual restaurant its like 3.99 for each of my kids to get them, then tip on top. CRAZY.

Isn't it amusing just a couple of days ago Zito said the fraud was not what the right was saying and today a popular governor of the state effectively resigned?

My pace breaker shorts are still 68$ and the underwear is still the same price from 2019/2022 years.

That’s without the discount code
This is what truflation does - Take ACTUAL PRICE points and not rely on surveys from execs claiming price increases.

We have already debuked the claim that soda cans have exploded in price becuase of Trumps recent tariffs.

We have already seen the base model of the lexus remained unchanged in price.

I'd love to know the walmart receiptt that increased by 60%.

Ultimately, the fear mongering on price increases just neverer happened.

**Yes**, Lululemon has raised prices on certain items since 2024, primarily in **2025**.

These increases were **modest** and **strategic**, affecting only a **small portion** of the assortment, largely to offset rising costs from U.S. tariffs on imports (especially from Vietnam and China, key sourcing regions). Company executives, including CFO Meghan Frank, confirmed this approach in earnings calls during mid-2025 (around June and September), describing the hikes as targeted rather than across-the-board.

Customer reports on platforms like Reddit noted specific examples in early-to-mid 2025, such as:
- Certain leggings (e.g., Align, Wunder Under, Groove styles) rising in price in Canada.
- Other items like joggers or accessories seeing $10–$20 jumps.

Core flagship products like Align leggings have maintained relatively stable full-price levels in USD (typically $98–$128 depending on length/style), with no evidence of major broad hikes there post-2024. However, regional variations (e.g., CAD prices) and selective adjustments occurred.

These changes coincided with challenges like slower U.S. demand and tariff impacts, prompting the company to pass on some costs while also increasing markdowns on other inventory. Prices can vary by region, currency, and promotions, so check Lululemon's site or stores for current details.

So certain products (one with higher demand/elasticity) while others they couldn't or else they'd have less profit.

Seems consistent with what I said would happen with prices to the end consumer at the start of all this.

Yes they raised prices on specific items that were most impacted by tariffs.

I really dont get the argument. You keep admitting that yes, price are being raised, while also telling me youre debunking price raises and there are not price increases bc truflatipn says so. The damn CEO said they were raising prices lol
