Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

You’re actively trying to take one of them away with this proposal, and it’s the one that inevitably leads to many more of them being ripped away. We already have socioeconomic classes that influence people’s lives. We do not need to add a new layer wherein your rights as a citizen are explicitly tied to it.
Oh king sturg33 would put so many barriers on voting its likely you and I wouldnt clear them

The founders were right

But my point is simply, why would smart people WANT dumb people to vote.

Why would producers WANT takers to vote?

Makes no sense to me

If a wealthy 40-year-old wants to eliminate a bunch of laws and programs that protect the vulnerable, do I get to choose if he votes too?

Do the programs actually protect those people? For a reasonable price? Helping is nice but 1 million dollars to give someone 3 meals isnt worth it no matter how much that person needs it. There would be better solutions than throwing government money at it.

You didn't answer my question.

Sounds like you would prefer if that person skipped voting though. Makes sense to me.

If an 18 year old proudly proclaims that he wants communism to replace capitalism, do you WANT that person to vote?
Want and deserve are profoundly different things.

Do I WANT a racist group like the KKK to exist? Absolutely not.

Do I think organizations like that DESERVE the right to exist? Absolutely I do. Because free speech is either for all or for none.

Let me go even further. Laws passed to comply with religious beliefs should only apply to people of those religions. I support your right to your religion, just not to enforce it on me.

It’s perfectly simple to me: I think it’s immoral and unjust for a society to tie someone’s rights to their aptitude and economic productivity. We have plenty of systems in place to provide advantages to the producer group. We don’t need to add such fundamental rights to the mix.

The reforms I’d make to welfare programs in this country would have me ostracized by the left as a Hitler.

Sounds like youre agreeing with me

Why would you WANT a KKK member to vote on your future?

I feel like yall are too stupid to even understand my point.

Im not arguing they CANT, im arguing that I dont want them to vote.

I dont WANT mqt voting because mqt votes in favor of chopping off genitals of children and letting career criminals on the streets to kill innocent people.

I WANT mqt to be busy on election day and forget to pull the lever for his insanity

This is a moronic take, there is no reason for a law to be passed for a person of a religion to follow it. For example, blue laws, Cant' buy liquor until 11 AM or something like that in NJ. What the hell would someone do to enforce that? Be like "I don't believe in it so you should sell it to me" or just lie about their religion when buying? It's all moronic. Could I say that my religion believes in ritual sacrifice so you can't convict me for ritualistically murdering someone? Where does the line come in? And how does enforcing that work?

I tend to agree with much of what founders set up.

They left it to the states and wrote about how property owners or tax payers should be the ones voting. Basically Jaws proposal

In a perfect system like this libertarianism is possible. Now? It’s a joke and reserved to delusional people who have no understanding of human nature.

When you think 18 year old kids who want a communist takeover of the country and kill dissidents should vote you need to reconsider your whole worldview.

I would too. I am generous. I am just not stupid. If you choose alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, lotteries/gambling over spending money on what you need then at some point we need to let nature take its course. This safety net is driving us right into idiocracy.

Letting our rights be voted away from the masses was a huge a mistake

We dont even have a congress anymore
Power has shifted between the two shitty parties on a regular basis. I think it’s at least a candidate/party issue as much as a voter issue. When the only viable candidates in a presidential election are Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, no amount of voter suppression can save you.
