Selling At the Deadline

To the fanbase he's been the next coming of Chipper.

Name ONE player who has been as open about his desire to remain a Brave for his entire career since Chipper began his later years. Now name one that also has an NL MVP in his trophy case. Add to that one that was the unquestioned team leader on the field, in the clubhouse, and in the media.

I'll save you some time - you can't.

Here's your optics and spin FWIW - Chipper was the good old southern white boy while Druw' was a superstar with dark skin from an island that most people watching the Braves every night couldn't find on a map. Who's team was it? Freddie's the white kid who ingratiated himself, became Chipper's best friend, and adopted Atlanta as home while Acuna is a superstar with dark skin from an island that most people watching the Braves every night can't find on a map..

It's unbelievably unfortunate that things are that way in the south in the 21st century, but it is what it is.

Including you apparently.

This is also and incredibly dumb ass post

Count me down for keeping Freddie. I don't really trust the Braves to spend the 25 million on anything useful. Rather see the Braves lose with Freddie than lose without Freddie for the next few years until they clean house.

Lmao!! So fans in the South will only tout their favorite franchise athlete the best because he is white??

I guess Dominick, Herschel Walker, Vick, and Aaron better be woke.

clv... I’m not trying to pile on but this is some dumb ****

I mean... I was a Ric Flair fan but also a Booker T fan.

Checks map\\ Yes still lives in the deep south.

Im not 100% sure because it hasn't been said out loud yet, but isn't assuming a whole population is bigoted- a pretty damn bigoted opinion?

FanGraphs' new projections are out...

https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings

81-81 with the Mutts winning 91 games.

If the organization's interior projections resemble those, it might not be a bad idea to start selling now while there are more buyers. Almost no chance either wildcard comes out of the NL East, so if you're going to try to chase them down it's probably time to shake things up - if he's going to overpay to try to make that happen in 2021, the time is probably already here.

It's likely time to shake some things up regardless of which approach he decides to take.

Yeah. Key pieces being hurt/under performing/incarcerated plus poor bullpen management are really hampering the Braves. For everything that went right last year it's going wrong this year. Waiting for the actual deadline to make moves will only decrease our chances. If the idea is to make a push then the sooner the better. That being said, if they do wait I expect the team to move some expiring contracts unless some over performances between now and then happen.

I wonder if the Rays would be interested in Morton for a proven starter down the stretch. Rays are extremely good at using their starting staff flexibly and effectively and they already have a lot of arms. Morton would be a nice addition as a traditional starter, but it doesn't look like they need him. I'm just pondering if they would view him as an arm that would put them over the top.

We remain in No Man's Land, but I just don't see us as having the consistency to put together a run that would get us in contention. I agree that the wild card looks to be out of reach. Only hope is that Giants will fade and the Central turns into mush.

The longer the season goes the more I think the Braves should move on from Snit. He’s been a good manager but I’m not sure he can mange the team to the playoffs with a less than ideal roster. His lack of strategic ability is really showing this year.

We knew we were likely going in a bat short of a contender. Not having Soroka at all hurts massively but when Ozuna went out... we got exposed. Even a great year from Riley isn’t keeping the offense afloat

This was brought up on MLBtraderumors last night. We don’t really have any sellable pieces. Freeman’s 10/5 and Morton could up and retire if he got traded somewhere he geographically didn’t want to go. Nobody wanted Greene. That just leaves Martin as our only real sellable piece.

I’m not sure that’s totally true. Ozuna was trash in all phases of the game all year. There was always a belief that he’d turn it around with the bat at least but at the end of the day his season was below replacement level.
