Shelby Miller Traded To The Cubs [FALSE ALARM]

If we do a package with the Sox it could end up being a big deal with a lot of moving parts. They don't seem to have the one player outside of Betts who matches up with Shelby.

I still say trade at deadline fits us better. We have a handful of guys who could be ready this yr but it would be best to give them a little more time and hold down service time

No reason to trade Shelby without a big win. Next year you can trade him if you want to with two years controll.

The other way I see this is multi team deal. Miller plus bethancourt plus a pitcher to get us two major hitting pieces and prob a reliever. One piece play this year other play 18

Wouldn't mind seeing something with Benintendi involved. That's the Hog homer in me talking though.

Dodgers being involved at all is sorta new seeing as they just signed Iwa. I also would like to add flipping Miller for one of these high end guys and offense sure makes the Heyward return look jam up. It also reminds me how many people poo poo'd the acquisition of Miller last year. :JSIDK:

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that the Cubs and Diamondbacks are not currently in the mix for Braves right-hander Shelby Miller.

This backs up a report from Mark Bowman of MLB.com, who wrote that the Diamondbacks have turned their attention elsewhere. There was a lot of chatter overnight about a possible deal to the Cubs which would have sent Javier Baez to Atlanta, but apparently those talks fizzled out. The Dodgers have talked to the Braves about Miller, but it's unclear where those talks stand.

Baez is such a project. He is not a contact hitter. Has some speed the rare times he gets on base. I don't get what they're doing.

The thing that surprises me about both Soler and Baez is that neither are the type of contact hitters the team was supposedly moving to last off-season. I like contact and don't particularly like Ks, but I also realize a team needs offensive balance. To achieve that you have to have a few fence-denters in the line-up and tolerate the higher K rate those guys usually have. If we were to obtain either of those guys, it would seem to be an inconsistent move given what was done last off-season. That's the only thing bugging me about the front office. They shouldn't say anything about having a macro-strategy other than they are re-building.

If the Cubs are out, look to the Red Sox. Deal surrounding Jackie Bradley plus a couple other guys.

SAV is running a circus here. Change the title please. Thethe was the glue around this place. It's beginning to fall apart.

Fourth team in on Fernandez. Apparently they made a very strong bid. If it's the Astros, no idea why they aren't talking about Miller.

We don't really match up with the Astros from what I can see

They are one of the better fits IF you are willing to take minor league talent back (and the Braves really should since they aren't going to be good no matter in 2016). If you could get 2-3 of Bregman, Cameron, Tucker, Reed, Fisher, Kemp and Davis you would be crazy not to make that move...

So the potential field of suitors got whittled down from 20 to about 3 clubs within only a few days?
