Some Personal Thoughts On Brian Snitker

I guarantee you there is a lot more going on behind the scene. I think the front office dictates a lot to Snitker especially in the playoffs. And I dont think a lot of established managers would sign up for that.

An established manager that doesn't suck wouldn't need to be told what to do all the time.

God, I hope that isn’t the case. Then we’re really in trouble.

Can I get a list of who is a good manager currently employed. I have seen lots of things in life but Braves fans believing they dont have the worst in game manager in baseball isnt one of them. And that includes Bobby Cox.

I'm not going to provide a list. But I gurantee you that AA isn't telling Snit to make some of the boneheaded pitching decisions he has made over the last few years among other things.

It can be argued that allowing him to do it over and over again is the same thing.

Indeed. But that also wasn't on AA's watch.

I don't think Snit has been AA's choice at all. But there is something to be said for not rocking the boat. And up until recently there hasn't really been a reason to change managers. The players seemingly played hard for him and he wasn't making horrible choices and the Braves run of good play came a lot earlier than most were expecting when AA got here. Last year and this year is different. Snit just seems to be checked out.

There is a line between pulling the plug now and just letting him ride off into the sunset and get someone new in the offseason. Honestly not sure how much of a disruption it would be now compared to when the likes of Freeman and Swanson were on the team.

You’re not “making a move just to make a move.” If a guy isn’t paying attention during games and isn’t checking in on his injured stars, he is not just terrible tactically but is also no longer doing the bare minimum.

Like are we truly arguing that a manager who’s paying attention wouldn’t be an improvement over one who clearly isn’t? What kind of argument is that?
 
Right. Things were going fine with Snit up until last year and it’s really been awful this year. He is pretty clearly checked out. Not moving on is what makes me question the FO’s intelligence more than anything.
 
Man, some of us have been pointing out how he’s been costing the team games for years. And it could have really bitten us in 2021 and 2022
