You aren't wrong, but the context is important. This started with the war on drugs. This is all a result of bad policy. Over criminlizing and over policing of morality crimes rather than crimes with a victim played a large part in creating the thug culture that infects a lot of black people. Poor people are more likely to commit violent crimes, kids growing up without fathers, and living in a denser population areas are all things that can increase violent crime rate. Also the people out here telling black kids rigeur only hope to success in life is to play sports or be entertainer aren't helping. People trying to be softer on violent crime aren't helping. Over policing of small crimes isnt helping. Theres a lot of people that aren't violent criminals until broken by the system. They develop mental illness and become emotionally hardened by incarceration over BS. They feel like society has screwed them because they cant get a decent job because of a criminal record over BS. Then they become violent criminals and we use that to justify incarcerating them in the first place. We as a country are in the business of creating criminals to feed the policing industrial complex. We dont even teach kids the basics of law to prepare them. They learn law from TV shows and YouTube and get themselves in trouble because they dont understand the basics of rights and laws.
