Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Slavery was certainly reprehensible, but I would go back to personal liberty over big government any day. We want the government to take care of us more and more now, and I hate that.

ETA... if current Americans were in that position back then, we would be wearing wigs with bad teeth. Some little punk would raise hell that the throwing the tea in the sea was bad for a starfish or something

They’d be too busy yelling at the sky

yeah I dont think Trumpists need to be talking down to anyone. Regardless of anyones politics you fell for the worst con man in history.

I’m in the wrong line of work

I joined a fast growing company about 18 months ago. We just passed $500m in ARR last month... lots of celebrating ... took 8 years, thousands of people, millions of customers... but a big number was hit.

Then I see we just hand over a billion to Ukraine like it's nothing. Then I see stories like this.

it's demoralizing how hard private businesses work and how wasteful government uses those fruits

Yeah, I know, damn Ukranians need to just nut up and learn to live under a dictator. Atleas there arent many tall buildings left anymore for them to suddenly fall out of if they criticize Putin.

If we actually had it give, it would be more acceptable. We're using a credit card to give gifts when we approaching our max. We're not fiscally irresponsible, and we will pay for it some point

The aid to Ukraine is money well-spent. It has greatly degraded Russia's capabilities and sent a powerful message to China.

Once upon a time the GOP was the party of peace through strength. The party that mostly won the Cold War over a 40+ year period. Now it is more the party of Treason Weasels, home of the Putin Fellatio Boyz.

Really? That's a lame excuse. We aren't close to our max. The amount we have sent to Ukraine could be made up by cutting future military spending. We have increased and decreased military spending in 1 year more than we have given Ukraine so it's not like it would be unprecedented. This spending actually did something whereas most military spending doesn't do jack **** for anyone.

The "money" we sent to Ukraine was most equipment that came from military spending, right?

It's a lame excuse. The money is a small part of our defense spending. And we are getting a big bang for the buck. There is the immediate degradation of Russia's capabilities. And it will make future aggression by Russia (and China) much less likely. It is an investment with a rather large payoff. We would be lucky if all federal spending had such a large payoff.

Meanwhile Brett Favre is laughing his way to the bank. Has the dude returned the money. We should be directing our ire to that sort of corruption and waste. Which has a payoff of ZERO to society. Unless you are inclined to view Favre and his accomplices as worthy charity causes

Mostly weapons we were never going to use that would need to be replaced anyways down the road. We can probably spend less knowing Russia is less of a threat in the immediate future.

I want us to spend less, period. Less foreign aid, less military spending, less everything.

I would rather spend more on things with LARGE payoffs and less on things with SMALL or ZERO payoffs. Maybe I've been teaching too much finance and economics. Seems rather straightforward.

I agree with that. Russian on the ropes. Now isnt the time to cut. We are actually getting bang for our buck here and without the cost of US soldiers lives.

Favre is scum. He took 2 million, and we've gave what, 54 billion to Ukraine? Favre has got ~ 0.0037% of what we've given to Ukraine. Favre should pay it back or go to prison. I'm not excusing him
