Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

State fiscal support for higher education in Washington has climbed by 39% since the 2014-2015 school year. The increased attention to post-secondary education has paid off: The state is ranked seventh most-educated in the country. Those who go on to earn a graduate’s degree can expect their median incomes to almost double.

Washington is in the top 4 in both per capita GDP and per capita GDP growth in the past decade. But imagine what it could do if it cut education spending!! It would be amazing!! Like Idaho maybe!!

New Hampshire’s relatively high number of residents with graduate degrees might be due in part to its proximity to Massachusetts, which has the second-highest number of residents with graduate degrees in the country. In this state, graduate degree holders earn a median income of more than $70,000. Data from Grapevine found New Hampshire in 2020 is investing the least in higher education with a planned $103 per person.

Poor New Hampshire. So close to Massachusetts. So far from Idaho.

Those blue states are awesome.

A curious mind would look at this and think, "hmm... my priors told me that these states were doing really well... why aren't people staying? I want to learn more."

unfortunately, all we have access to is a failed academic

Vermont is set to spend $157.17 per person on higher education, according to data from Grapevine. The state outspends almost all other states on primary and secondary school education, to the tune of about $19,000 per student.

Poor Vermont. So close to New York. So far from Idaho.

our academic thinks "more public funding" = better outcomes

a curious mind would see that we spend more per student than anytime in us history and acadmic achievement is abysmal.

unfortunately, we don't have a curious mind. We have an academic

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy in January 2020 signed legislation allowing children of H-1B visa holders in New Jersey to be eligible for in-state tuition costs for public post-secondary institutions. New legislation in the Garden State allows incarcerated people to be eligible for state aid for college. Graduate degree holders in New Jersey can anticipate a median income that's nearly $14,000 higher than their peers with only a bachelor's degree, and more than double that of people with an associate degree.

New Jersey is a state that does everything wrong. Its immigrant population features the highest proportion of graduate degree holders in the country. Screw that. Who needs highly educated people.

New Jersey leads the nation in people leaving after they moved there

I married a New Jersey gal. Many of my friends I met in school in VA were from New Jersey.

Nobody ever goes back

WalletHub named Massachusetts the most educated state in the country for 2020. Massachusetts in 2020 is investing $244.26 per capita on post-secondary education and has increased its higher education spending by 15% since the fiscal year 2015. More than a fifth of Massachusetts residents hold a graduate or professional degree, and another 25% have bachelor's degrees. This state is so highly educated, fewer than 10% of residents did not graduate from high school.

Another state doing everything wrong.

They should definitely try to be more like Louisiana. Or Oklahoma. Or Arkansas. So many great blueprints they could be following!!

I hope I can get a better education which will make me throw reason and common sense out the window. lol

It's kinda awesome that home schooled kids beat the **** out of public school kids by a wide margin in academic achievement.

basically any alternative to academics will lead to more success

It's funny to me that time mqt explained to me that of course people in the 18-30 ranges are the stupidest. And have the most radical ideas on how to save society (Go Hamas! for example), and their stupidity is not a reflection of academia. They've always been stupid, he tells me

I had to point out to him that people age 18-30 are the one most freshly exposed to academia, and the further removed they get, the wiser they become

They are more than likely to also know a guy in a dress isn't a woman.

I'd wager % of New Jersey residents who believe men can get pregnant is higher than that of Louisiana. Similarly, I'd bet more of them believe we can change the climate if we give DC more money and control.

Those degrees are paying off!

too lazy to go find the original chart... but y'all get it

well... the non academics will get it

West Virginia leads the country in home schoolin'. Just sayin'.

In that particular instance it is not an irrational decision by the parents.

Idaho, Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma are also very high in home schoolin'. Also for understandable reasons.

helluva blueprint y'all have goin'
