Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

yeah thanks for confirming your lack of critical thinking.

RDS can't stop a fire, but he damn sure would be ready for one. We know this bc he lives in a state where hurricanes are the big threat, and this guy gets bridges re-built in 3 days and power restored in hours.

He runs circles around the guy whose state requires an app to locate human feces

FINISH HIM

Oh I see you want more freebies handed out.

For a minute there is thought you were suggesting something smart, like stop subsidizing college. Silly me

For what it’s worth, I think we should reduce subsidies to colleges regardless, but I’m not expecting you to get on board with the rest. What I am looking for is a compromise that says we can at least reallocate the educational resources to train more mechanics and plumbers instead of art history majors.

Once you divert the money to another form of education it will bloat with administrative staff that provides zero value.

What we could do is reduce taxes on smaller outfits that allows them to hire more staff and train on the job.

how about we stop subsidizing useless college degrees, which will then result in less people who can't afford the useless college degree to go to college, which will then result in many of those people going into useful trade fields instead

I know your solution to everything is give poor people free money but all that will do is make them poorer

What does this guy know?

Can he make a burger as good as Zito? I think not....

if dems had an ounce of principles, this should lead them to demanding her resign immediately.

also - why the **** is a mayor of a city on some tax funded international trip anyway?

I reject the climate change nonsense, but if you really believed climate change was this massive threat, then cities should be doing insane amounts of disaster prep.

instead, they do the opposite... because of climate change, ironically enough

I see people calling for this to not be politicized.

**** that. it should be politicized aggressively. something this horrifically managed should result in seismic shift in ideology

Absolutely on the preparation for it - The left wants to have their cake and eat it too.

I actually believe climate change is real (not as frantic as the left claims) but I also believe we will innovate ourselves out of it and we should not have to change any behaviors as a result.

I’m not against this, but you’re still going to have to grapple with the fact that colleges can tell young poor people they can take out loans to attend and live at a college rather than continue to live in poverty while you train in the trades. There’s already ample demand for labor, the issue is the supply. We already have programs like this across the country that haven’t turned the tide.

climate related deaths are down 99% from 100 years ago. so even if the climate change problem is getting worse (again, I reject the premise), capitalist societies have figured out how to deal with it extremely effectively

meanwhile, California has experienced one of its wettest decades in history and have managed to completely bungle it. And we're not far from the part of the calendar where they will instruct their citizens to unplug their toasters because they can't handle the energy demand

It's just infuriating the mismanagement of resources to make idiots feel good about themselves

Everything can and should be politicized to an extent. Where I take issue is when you pretend the firefighters just weren’t white or straight or male enough to put out the types of fires that nobody can put out. Or when people pretend that Karen Bass being in Africa on a trip is actually impacting the response. They’re just cheap pot shots at anti-woke boogeymen (sorry, boogeypeople) being used to turn a natural disaster into a culture war. It’s good to have a conversation around whether or not there’s enough water to fight fires or enough money in the local/state/federal budget to protect people from these types of disasters. But the “woke right” has learned quickly that anything with a complicated solution is much easier to blame on DEI.
