Spring Training Gamethread/Discussion

Good news comes in five-inning packages...

Breaking down the MONDAY box (happy St. Pat's).

Green is the Braves' lucky color?

Alex Wood has a rarity -- a spring (five-inning) complete game! Two hits, one walk, 6 Ks!

AND NO RUNS.

Uggla has a triple and homer (third this spring), 10 RBIs this spring

Gattis 2-3, R

Johnson 1-3, R, RBI

Pena 2B, Error

Constanza 1-2, 2B (.364)

So which of our second basemen is having the best spring?

OPS numbers:

Uggla: 1.038

La Stella: .756

Pena: .895

As Ronald Reagan once famously said: facts are stupid things.

Yeah Uggla has 9 walks this spring. Easily leads the team and gives him a 432 OBP. If he can hit 250~ with his normal power he will give us the most offense of anyone that can play the position. I'm not holding my breath though.

I think that is all anyone realistically expected from Uggla when we got him. We just have not gotten that from him. Heck I would take the .240 and 36 HR's he gave us in 2011 and be thrilled beyond belief about it.

Yeah. IF he hit 240 He'd like have a 350+ OBP too with the way his walk rate has improved lately. I still think that's a double edged sword to go along with an increased K%. Still. Something like 240/350/450 would be awesome. I think if we could get a 750+ OPS out of him then we're gold.

Can't even imagine the rookie hazing with wood. Is there a picture anywhere of the recent hazings?
